I know you've all been missing my stunning revelations about the Eagles, live internet streaming TV, annoying mid-game phone calls, and the panties (of course, the panties).

What can I say? It's been pretty busy over here. I've been working diligently on my novel, the baby is growing up (and napping less), and the dogs have been sick (thanks for all of you who were concerned--Yoshi is feeling much better)....

I’ve gotten spoiled.

A few of you have been there. We’re in the chat area on Sunday afternoon (evening for me) or evening (Monday morning) or Monday night (Tuesday morning), and I start complaining about the buffer.

“I hate 85%,” I write.

“Buffering problems again, EC?” says Coach.

“Damn,” I say.

A short time later, I will be quiet(er), as the buffer has come through and I’m busy watching the game. And then this happens.

I lied.

A few weeks back I started saying that the Birds were so bad there was no hope anyway, so I wasn’t going to get my (Eagles) panties in a ruffle over the wins/loss column. “We’re not going to the superbowl,” I calmly told my mother on the phone after she related a few angry fan stories from Philly sports radio, “so why worry about the playoff race? Everybody just needs to chill out.”

I thought I believed it, too. I guess that win against the Jets made me feel more...

All right, I have to admit it. Watching the Eagles play the Jets this week was about as much fun as plucking my eyebrows. It has to be done, and I’m pissy when I can’t get to it, but it’s sort of painful and it makes me sneeze. When it’s all over I feel much better and can approach life with a more positive attitude. What an analogy, eh? Ok, forget the sneezing part. But otherwise, spot on.

Aside from the game itself, which had its better and worse points, from my perspective, Sunday...

I know what you’re thinking.

Eaglechick, last week you went on and on about the power of the panties. Well, if the panties are so powerful, then how did they fail? Why did the Eagles lose last weekend? Horribly? Embarrassingly? Breaking records in stinkyness? To the laughable Giants, of all teams? How could it have happened?

Were the panties lost in the sock-sucking vacuum of your drier? Did the chicklet reach into the panty drawer without you noticing, and hide them...
