Bengals fall Short in OT to Defending champs.

Well the team showed up this week, that was a positive. However, poor clock management (by Marvin...who would have thought...) and inexcusable playing calling in OT led to the Bengals falling short in OT.
Carson Palmer had a very nice game and was on a roll in the 2 minute drill. However, once again Marvin Lewis struggled with clock management and allowed 22 seconds to come off the clock on 3rd down with a TO left from the 14. A short pass to Anotino Chatman got the ball down to the 3, but only left 4 seconds. They decided to kick the FG and go to OT.......but was that the right call?
In normal situations....yes. Absolutely, take your chances in OT. However, were these normal situations? You were on the road, against the defending Super Bowl champions, in a game no one gave you a shot in, and your 3 yards away from the win. WHY NOT??? I said at the time I thought I would go for it, and after a day of thought, I still feel that way. What did they have to lose? The Giants had no TO's and were unable to stop them on that drive. Carson was in a groove. If that offense would have popped back up to the line and run a play, the Giants D would have been very worried!! I'm not going to bash Marvin for not doing this, afterall if he would have and failed, he would have been crucified for it. But if there was a time to do it, that was the time.
A bigger issue for me was the shell Bratkowski went into in OT. 1st and 10....Perry up in the middle for 2 yards. 2nd and 8.....Perry up the middle for no gain....WTF!!! Are you serious??? Way to go Brat, once again you show why you have no business being an offensive coordinator in this league. Palmer is on fire, and your first two plays are running the ball.....and might I remind you the Giants were shutting the run down the whole second half! So Palmer is put in 3rd and long and misses Housh. 3 and out, punt....Giants take the ball and kick the winning FG....game over.
In all, this was a much better game all around for the Bengals. They showed life on offense and the defense played OK once again. A loss is a loss, but this is the best game they have played this year by far. Positive thing is Cleveland comes to town next week, and someone has to win!!
