Week 6 Preview - Bengals @ Jets

Alright, first some clean up work. Palmer is Out as is Graham. Fitzgerald and Rayner are in. I was all set early this week to predict the breakout game for this offense and call the upset.....then Palmer was declared out. Well there went that idea. I have little faith in Fitz after his showing against the Browns, but this team has played much better on the road so who knows.

On offense I expect the same struggles and pathetic play calling that dug us into the 0-5 hole. I expect to see a heavy dose of Cedric Benson today. Marvin wants to run between the tackles and Perry has not been able to do this. Expect Marvin to see if Benson can. Not sure he's going to find much running room, but my guess is this will be a 50/50 split with Benson and Perry today. The passing game will hinge on Fitzgerald getting into his comfort zone and getting COC and Housh involved early. If he can get something going early, they could be in this fight. If he does not, this could get ugly as things will spiral downward in a hurry.

However, I'm not all doom and gloom this week. I expect Favre to have a down game to be honest. The Bengals have been better against the pass than many realize and Favre is coming off a 6 TD week......I think this is a reality check for all that think Favre is an instant start every week. I think he struggles and turns the ball over 2-3 times today. This will keep the Bengals in it, but unless Fitz can wake up, it won't matter. Thomas Jones and Leon Washington should have nice games and be able to bail Brett out and sneak out a win.
