Weekly Waiver Wire - Week 10

Waiver Wire Moves – Week 10

At this point in season waiver wire gems become harder to come by, but for those of you in the playoff hunt this is still an important weekly exercise to keep your rosters fresh for the stretch run. The pickings were slim this week, but there are still some value to be had. Here is who you should be looking at:

Quarterbacks:

J.P. Losman - Buffalo Bills

Losman was benched earlier this season in favor of rookie Trent Edwards who recently went down due to injury. Losman has stepped in and leaned on his favorite target Lee Evans and may be a sneaky pickup for the remainder of the season if he can keep his job. Losman showed some promise late last season and may be able to repeat that this year.

Running Backs

Priest Holmes - Kansas City Chiefs

If Larry Johnson’s injury proves to keep him shelved for a couple weeks Priest may have the opportunity to remind owners why he was one of the most dominating fantasy players of his generation. Better bet is that he will simply be a serviceable running back that is worth a roster spot with Johnson hurt.

Ron Dayne/Ahman Green - Houston Texans

Dayne stepped in much like he did late in the season last year and had a surpassingly good game. Not sure what to think about it with Green getting some looks as well, as Dayne could quickly see his opportunities evaporate if Green can be effective. Nonetheless, both are worth a look in larger leagues and with Green’s injury history I would actually lean towards Dayne having more value the rest of the season.

Wide Receivers

Reggie Williams - Jacksonville Jaguars

Williams had a great game this past week, but history says he will disappear as quickly as he arrived on the fantasy scene. However, at this point in the season he’s worth a flyer in case he decides to try to put together a solid second half.

Final Reminder - Chris Henry - Cincinnati Bengals

I’ve been on the pick up Henry kick for 3 weeks now, and if you haven’t already, chances are it’s too late. However, if he’s still there he just became even more valuable when he returns from his 8 game suspension this week due to Chad Johnson’s recent injury. Johnson will be questionable at best going into this weekends game which may be great news for Henry owners as if he can’t go it would likely be Henry starting opposite of TJ.

Tight Ends

Marcedes Lewis - Jacksonville Jaguars

Lewis tied his season high with 4 receptions last week. While he has not found the endzone yet, he seems to be slowly finding a role in this offense. I expect the TD’s to come and see him as a nice sleeper the remainder of the season.

Defensive Line

Paul Spicer - DE - Jacksonville Jaguars

Spicer has recorded 5 sacks over the last 5 games. He seems to be on quite a roll and is worth a spot on your DL.

Shaun Rogers - DT - Detroit Lions

Rogers has always been a streaky player in fantasy terms and coming off his best game of the year Rogers may be on a hot streak right now. He’s worth a look if you need help on the DL.

LinebackersCalvin Pace - Arizona Cardinals

Pace had his breakout game before his bye week and came back from the bye not missing a beat. He has recorded 18 tackles over his last 2 games and should be on your roster if you need some help at LB.

Defensive Backs

Rodney Harrison - S - New England Patriots

Harrison has put up a couple nice weeks lately and is showing he can still get it done. If you need some depth in your secondary Harrison is worth a look.

Miller, thank you, in my IDP league I've been constantly picking up players based on your suggestions and it is working out quite well. I appreciate the sound advice my friend.

Worm, bye weeks are good times to get players that may help you the rest of the season. Some players will overlook or drop players heading into a bye week due to roster contraints, leaving them available to those who manage their rosters well and have the room.
