Greetings folks! Well it has been fun posting fantasy football advice for the regular season. And those that listened to most if not all my stellar advice on players are likely enjoying a stint in the post season like yours truly. *COUGH* DID YOU START DONOVAN MCNABB LAST WEEK? *COUGH*
But since you all have kept Ballin' or Fallin' as your secret weapon my seemingly precognitive advice is now available only to the lucky few. So this post-season I'll run things a bit different.
Here's how it will run for the next three to four weeks:
As always have faith, start your studs, and always listen to The Ram. See you in the forums!

3 Questions for you:
McNabb or Garcia for Week 14
Lendale White or Frank Gore.... I am starting Chris Johnson and Peyton Hillis, but need another.
Vikings or Colts DST after this Minnesota suspension debaclePosted 12-04-2008 at 02:12 PM by phipsi523

Alright now we're talking here! First and foremost thank you for checking in with me and for signing up for an account here at SportsOutlaw. I'm not blowing sunshine up your skirt by telling you the folks here at SO are some of the best in the fantasy football world. We're more than holding our own in two leagues that span across the fantasy football community. So I invite you to spend some time in the forums and talk shop with some good folks.
Now onto your questions:
Bottom Line Up Front:
McNabb - BALLIN'!
Garcia - FALLIN'!
McNabb or Garcia for Week 14 - A couple of things to look at here: Matchup and supporting cast. Garcia is rolling into a game with Carolina who has a very decent defense that is starting to figure out how to sack the quarterback again. Supporting cast is Warrick Dunn/Caddilac, Antonio Bryant. I look for Garcia to go for a pedestrian 180 yards, 1 td, 2 picks.
Now take a look at McNabb who has the Giants. Ouch! The Giants are taking some teams to the woodshed on defense but have had a circus surrounding the team involving a certain dumbass with poor muzzle awareness. Pierce will play but you have to know that this team is going to be off center by pure circumstance. So while the Giants have one of the best defenses in the industry they will be feeling a ton more pressure to perform.
McNabb is playing for next season. This game means a big time payday for him should the Eagles follow through with the demands of the Philly media and dump him and his head coach this off-season. He played lights out this past weekend and will continue to pass the ball around against the Giants. I look for him to go over 220 yards with 2 tds and a pick. Solid numbers.
Lendale White or Frank Gore.... I am starting Chris Johnson and Peyton Hillis, but need another.
Bottom Line Up Front:
Lendale White - FALLIN'!
Frank Gore - BALLIN'!
Ooohhhh, must be tough to have this kind of dillema.
Lenwhale is among the league leaders in TD's on a run first offense with a mega-sweet matchup in Cleveland. Gore has a little tougher road to plow against the Jets who may or may not have been exposed by the Broncos last week. On this one you MUST go with your studs and start Gore. He may not rack up the RUSHING yards against the Jets because he is a very different rusher but you must also take receiving into the equation when considering Gore. That makes him a must start in my mind over LenWhale. Gore will rack up 100+ total yards and 1-2 tds.
Vikings or Colts DST after this Minnesota suspension debacle
Bottom Line Up Front:
Vikings DEF - BALLIN'!
Colts DEF - FALLIN'!
Starting a defense is not about how a team holds another team to 3 points. Its all about turnovers, scoring on turnovers, and scoring on special teams. Minny and Indy have 11 picks each on the year. Minny has 33 sacks to Indy's 19. Now you are rightly concerned with the suspensions. BUT those two fatbodies won't be enough to put the Vikings defense's ability to score on hold enough to consider starting the Colts even though they are playing the pathetic Bengals.
Final thoughts phipsi; in the playoffs it is more important than ever to start your studs 9 out of 10 times. You've got a good squad. Best of luck to you this weekend and I hope to see you around here this off season.Posted 12-04-2008 at 04:57 PM by The Ram

First Email:
1st league:Quote:1st league – ppr league
I can start 2 rb’s, 2 WR’s or 1rb, 3WR’s , then 1 TE. Need to pick the best line up from:
RB’s – MBIII, Deangelo, Grant, and Dunn
WR’s – Randy Moss, Santana, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall
TE – Scheffler or Dustin Keller.
Since ppris in play, it makes it tough. I have Romo and Big Ben as well to choose from.
2nd league – non-ppr, yardage and scores (bonus for 100 yds plus and long scores)
Must play 2 rb’s and 3 WR’s :
RB’s – Westbrook, LJ, Grant, Sammy Morris
WR’s – Brandon Marshall , Derrick Mason, Roy Williams, Mark Bradley, Amani Toomer, Deion Branch, A. Gonzalez, and Kevin Walter
Matt Jones is available as a free agent in this league, but I thought his hearing was today for possible suspension.
Any help on each league would be appreciated. I have so many good players in the first league, it’s hard to pick plus the rb’s have tough
Match-ups. In the second league, I must have been drunk on draft day. All my wideouts except Marshall and Mason came from drop/adds.
Thanks in advance
RB’s – MBIII, Deangelo, Grant, and Dunn
WR’s – Randy Moss, Santana, Calvin Johnson, Brandon Marshall
TE – Scheffler or Dustin Keller.
I've highlighted the squad I'd go in with. Look for a big game from Marshall. Cutler is going to be passing a bunch this week and he's been targeting Marshall consistently. Only a matter of time. Same with Moss, NE played Pitt tough and now gets to take the loss out on one of the worst pass defenses in the league. PPR is Welker's game but Randy will get his looks. Megatron is a must start all day every day and tore the Vikes up in their last meeting. Runningbacks are also good plays even with MBIII's gimpy foot and D-Will's poor matchup. They are still better than Grant. Dunn is a possibility if MBII is a shaky start. I almost never start a TE when a starting WR is available.
2nd league – non-ppr, yardage and scores (bonus for 100 yds plus and long scores)
Must play 2 rb’s and 3 WR’s :
RB’s – Westbrook, LJ, Grant, Sammy Morris
WR’s – Brandon Marshall , Derrick Mason, Roy Williams, Mark Bradley, Amani Toomer, Deion Branch, A. Gonzalez, and Kevin Walter
Runningbacks are easy. Westy is 60% of the Eagle's offense. Gotta roll with him. LJ had a HUGE game against a then healthy Broncos defense that now finds itself starting the guy selling popcorn in the stands at safety. Both should score well for you. Give yourself some credit, you've got a bunch to pick from at WR. Again Marshall will have a bounceback game. Mason has a tough matchup but will be there for Flacco any time he needs an open receiver. Gonzalez is a sneaky play against the Bengals. He's been playing well this season. Jones is VERY tempting but I'd still go with A Gonz.
Thanks for checking in with me and best of luck this season!

Second email:
Hey Stu! Yup, you've got the best problem to have in fantasy football: too many good options. Here are the guys I'd roll with:Quote:Left myself too many tough choices for the first round of the playoffs:
Can pick 2
RB 6 pt TD and 1 pt every 10 yds with 5 pt bonus for 100
Ronnie Brown Vs. Buffalo
Tim Higttower Vs. St. L.
Pierre Thomas Vs. Atlanta
Marion Barber Vs. Pittsburgh
Can pick 3
WR/TE 6 pt TD and 1 pt every 10 yds with 5 pt bonus for 100
Eddie Royal Vs. Chiefs
Reggie Wayne Vs. Bungles
Tony Gonzalez Vs. Broncos
Lance Moore Vs. Falcons
Any and all help appreciated.
Thanks,
Stu
Pierre Thomas Vs. Atlanta
Ronnie Brown Vs. Buffalo or Marion Barber Vs. Pittsburgh
Thomas has a firm grip on the main rushing job for the Saints. Bush is back and healthy but is going to be put in open space to make plays giving Thomas plenty of touches between the tackles and on goal line. Remember also Thomas is a heck of a pass catching rb in his own right. Solid play there. Barber against the Steelers is a tough call. His gimpy toe is concerning and the Steelers have a good defense as usual. But if he's healthy he is a matchup problem for the Steelers pass rushing linebackers. Watch this one closely and if he's not a go take Ronnie Brown against Buffalo. He had a decent game against the Bills the first time however these Bills are a shell of the team that started this season. If forced now I would take Brown as the safer bet.
Eddie Royal Vs. Chiefs
Reggie Wayne Vs. Bungles
Tony Gonzalez Vs. Broncos
Lance Moore Vs. Falcons
Damn, hard to argue with these guys. Royal is money in the bank as is Wayne and Gonzalez has found the fountain of youth as of late. Each could very easily go for over 100 and a score.
Thanks for checking in with me and best of luck these playoffs!

Andre Johnson at GB or Cotchery at SF? With Schaub starting that should only up AJ's potential despite Schaub's time off, right?Posted 12-04-2008 at 11:40 PM by backtoprison

Great question and outstanding member name!
I know GB has one of if not the best secondary in the game and Shaub is coming back from injury. But AJ is playing at an elite level this season and shouldn't be benched due to poor match-up or a change in quarterback. AJ all day.
Thanks for checking in and great question.Posted 12-05-2008 at 10:45 AM by The Ram

DeSean Jackson or Jerricho Cothery?
DeSean Jackson vs NYG
Jerricho Cotchery vs SFPosted 12-05-2008 at 11:25 AM by storminn0rm

NORM!!! Sorry, had to do it.
Bottom Line Up Front:
DeSean Jackson vs NYG FALLIN'!
Jerricho Cotchery vs SF BALLIN'!
This one is a bit tougher to call. On even playing grounds and weather I would go with Jackson. BUT the weather may be a big factor in the northeast. I believe the Eagles will get the ball in Jackson's hands no matter what however his touches through the air may not be enough to start him unless you get points for return yards.
I like Cotch a bunch and think the Jets will go out to the west coast and light up the Niners.Posted 12-05-2008 at 12:18 PM by The Ram
