jeez, is this ever the group of death, or what? wow, this is one i'll be glued to the tv for. even romania, who apparently has no shot by these odds, is going to be a tough out. there are no free wins in this group.

i LOVE the nederlands. i love the hard nosed defense mentality. i love the orange unis. i just worry whether they will have enough offense. particularly in a group where you have three other strong defensive units with two of them big scorers, i think its going to be hard to advance. just the same, i could see them winning the group. i think they do advance, but much as i love them, just dont think they have the firepower to score enough to make a long run here.

italy and france, wow, cup 06 all over again huh? only one thing, france no longer has zidane OR barthez. i know theyve looked good so far, and they still have henry, but i am not a believer in mr run-50-yards-offsides-and-hope-one-of-them-hits-before-he-gets-tired-and-has-to-take-a-seat-in-the-75th-minute. i just dont know that the front line of offense or the back line of defense is going to hold up, and i dont think france has enough to move on.

italy is simply a tough team because they have the best goaltender in the world IMO in buffon, and they have some great defenders and just enough offense that can come from all over the field. its a very well rounded team without any superstars but plenty of stars who get the job done.

this is definitely THE group to watch if you ask me. you have three teams who could legitimately win it all, and one of them wont even make the quarters.

Thierry Henry sucks. Period. Did well for the Gunners but that's where this story ends. If you can't suceed in Barcelona how good can you be?
