Spain has showed a lot, Italy not so much. This one really is a pickem with the way these QF's have been going.

This is really mind boggling at this point. The upset seems to be becoming the norm ( pun intended). I'm throwing my bucks at Spain and see what happens. Italy is a great defensive minded team that lives by D and stealing the game away.

I just dropped 67500 on Spain. The Italians are lucky to have made it this far

i completely agree. so were the turks and the russians.

the italians are the best team remaining, though they certainly havent played that way yet. we'll see if that changes today. i think theyve been a different team since that awesome buffon stop on the PK by romania to save their hopes.

The problem is, Spain historically chokes in these situations while the Italians often thrive.

And the other issue is Sgt John historically drops a shit load of money on a hunch someone is due and ends up on welfare.

Spain beats Italy in shootout after 0-0 draw
June 22, 2008
VIENNA, Austria -- Cesc Fabregas scored the decisive penalty kick in a shootout Sunday night, sending Spain past Italy 4-2 after a 0-0 draw, setting up a semifinal against Russia in the European Championship.

The World Cup champion Italians were stymied twice by goalkeeper Iker Casillas in the shootout.

Spain, the only group winner to make the semifinals, plays Russia in Vienna on Thursday night. The other semifinal has Turkey against Germany on Wednesday in Basel, Switzerland.

man... i hate PKs. its just so sad to see one teams dream end like that, on essentially a coin flip. italy played stifling defense all game and looked like they wanted PKs from the beginning. its not even exciting to me, just pisses me off that one team goes home that way.

they were the better team today IMO. i think spain is crazy overrated. i'll be angry if they win, just dont think theyve played that well as a whole.
