Michigan offer scholarship to Greg Paulus

Kid was a stud QB in HS.....4 YEARS AGO!! He only has one year of eligibility and has missed Spring workouts. Yet Rich Rod offers his a chance to compete for the starting QB job......am I the only one that thinks this sounds more like a move from a 3 ring circus than a move from Michigan football???

If the kid has talent, let him compete.

Makes sense to me.

As a Duke fan I know what kind of heart Greg Paulus has.

He was never the most athletic guy, but his passion and work ethic are undeniable.

What I see here Miller is a guy with maturity who knows how to play under pressure, even though it was for Duke on a court.

He can do what is needed for the program this year while the guys Rod needs to develop get a year to really learn right, and it eliminates the need for those holdover suck ass QBs

you really think that after 4 years of BBall he's just going to step into Michigan and start?? Seriously?? I have no doubt the guy can handle pressure, but sorry you just don't stop playing football for 4 years and pick it right back up. No way! This program will be much better off to build the guys they have and start working on their future. A one year guy makes no sense to me, let alone a one year guy who has not played football in 4 years.

Yes, that is the plan if he goes there. They will give him an open competition to start.

It's not only Michigan going after him, other schools are courting him, and he has multiple NFL teams trying to sign him.

Apparently the kid has a ton of potential. His high school stats are amazing (all I can go on, because I have never seen him play)

not saying he won't.....I'm saying is that the best thing for this program long term. I also don't know if he "should" be starting.....but I do hope he "IS" starting come the last game of the year. Getting to beat up on a Dukey and a Wolverine all at once, PRICELESS!

I really don't even know where to start on this one.........

WHY, WHY, WHY, WHY!!!!! Tate Forcier looked AWESOME in spring drills. Just flat out awesome for a true freshman coming in. He's obviously not going to light the world on fire, there's still too much work to be done for this team to get back to the point that Lloyd had it (LOL, for clarification, Miller, that point that he had it was a consistent in season winner )

I'll go back to the same point I made during the early part of last season, when RRod kept throwing Sheridan in despite Threet showing progress. The guy is a legend in his own mind, and I'm convinced that he feels that if he can do things in a way that no one is expecting, that it makes him some sort of genius. Unfortunately, for UM, he's making them into a joke. Miller hit it dead on. The kid's been out of football for 4 years! If you think that Paulus has any chance of gridiron success after that kind of layoff, then I'm also certain you feel that Michael Vick can come in and have success in the NFL after his layoff. The odds are roughly the same, and from what I saw of that thread, not too many people like Vick's chances. ......

The correct move here is to let Forcier earn the starting QB job, either by starting him straight out of the gate, or letting Sheridan play himself out of the job, either one's likely. RRod's swung and missed on Pryor, had two quarterbacks with solid starting potential transfer out on him in the last two years, had to settle for his 3rd target after Shepard and Beaver said no,and is now considering giving a point guard a shot to start? Wow.......thank you Bill Martin....can't wait to see the boosters can this clown at the end of the year........if things keep up this way, RRod won't be far behind.......

WOW, mav and I agree on a Michigan topic.....but he is dead on here. You have to build a foundation at any program. Tate did look very impressive from the reports I heard out of Spring drills and the kicker is.....he'll be there for 3-4 years! Paulus will not come in and make this team a national contender....or even a big 10 contender....so why stunt the future for him? Sounds like a waste of a scholarship.

Some programs could do this and I would think it's a good move, or at least a what the hell move. I just don't see it as one that makes a lot of sense for Michigan.
