NFL News and Rumors: Free Agency Period

Jon Vilma officially headed to the Saints for a 4th round pick, potential to be a 3rd based on conditions. Seems like an absolute steal of a deal for the Saints to me.

Free agent Asante Samuel's contract with the Eagles will reportedly be for five years and $47.2 million.

The official announcement is expected to come later this afternoon. On only a five-year pact, Samuel will be able to re-enter the market at age 32.

Is this all true?

Troy Williamson and Jerry Porter are Jags
Jonathan Vilma is a Saint
Kris Jenkins is a Jet
Shaun Rogers traded to Cinci
Bernard Berrian is a Vike
Kawika Mitchell is a Bill

Can't believe that the Bears lets the Vikes have berrian.

NFL News and Rumors: Free Agency Period

Broncos released WR Javon Walker, according to ESPN's Michael Smith.

He's a big name, but Walker's contract and knee injury made it an easy choice by Denver. That no one choose to give up a late-round pick for Walker is telling. It's rumored that he could need microfracture surgery in the future, although he will have plenty of suitors lined up with MRI machines. Dallas, Washington, Philadelphia, and Tampa Bay have been rumored to be interested.

Dolphins agreed to terms with WR Ernest Wilford, formerly of the Jaguars.
He immediately becomes the favorite to start opposite Ted Ginn. Wilford, 29, caught 46 passes for 518 yards (11.5 YPC) and three TDs as a rotational wideout in Jacksonville last year. He's going to an offense in transition and is unlikely to be a huge fantasy factor. However, Wilford is a tough blocker and possession threat with red-zone ability. He'll help the 'Fins move the chains. Feb. 29 - 3:15 pm et

Dolphins agreed to terms with DT Randy Starks on a five-year, $21 million contract, with $7 million guaranteed.
Starks has played in a 4-3 scheme in Tennessee the past four years, but is the big (6'3/315), high-upside type player Bill Parcells looks for. Of course, he's also had off-field problems, something Parcells said he wouldn't tolerate. It's remarkable Starks got this money with such little production as a pro. Feb. 29 - 3:04 pm et

Brown refuses 'Hawks offer to be highest paid Kicker. Trufant turns down "Champ Bailey" $$

Scout.com: Report: Brown won't return in 2008

Hawks, Trufant mince words as well as money

WTF is going on here. Is there a reason they no longer wish to be in Seattle.

Also reports are out that Seattle is very close to signing Crumpler

Report: Crumpler close to signing

Quote:
Free-agent tight end Alge Crumpler, who is visiting the Seahawks, is close to signing with the team, according to his agent.
The Atlanta Falcons released Crumpler two weeks ago, and it was the veteran tight end that contacted Jim Mora about the possibility of continuing his career with the Seahawks. Mora, the Seahawks secondary coach/head coach in waiting, was the Falcons' coach from 2004-06 – when Crumpler was a Pro Bowl tight end. Seahawks president Tim Ruskell also was with the Falcons in 2004 and defensive end Patrick Kerney, the Seahawks' big free-agent addition last year, was teammates with Crumpler in Altanta.
Conflicting report from a different Seattle paper

Seahawks Insider - Alge Crumpler update

Quote:
I just spoke with Alge Crumpler's agent, Butch Williams, who said the internet report that Crumpler is going to sign with Seattle is inaccurate. He said Alge already has left Seattle and that he is going to visit one more team before making a decision on where he wants to sign. But to say that he is going to sign with the Seahawks is premature.

I figured this is where he would land to reunite with Frasier. Nice signing for Minny, Williams is a very good player.
