Reports say Wilson signs

By Jerry McDonald - NFL Writer
Friday, February 29th, 2008 at 4:05 pm in Oakland Raiders

Both FoxSports and the New York Daily News are reporting free agent safety Gibril Wilson has agreed to a six-year, $39 million deal with the Raiders that includes a signing bonus of $16 million.

Wilson, a four-year veteran, has 11 career interceptions in 52 career games as a free safety for the Super Bowl champions. He had an excellent postseason in the Giants run for the title and is regarded as the best safety available.

Inside The Oakland Raiders - A look inside the world of the highly classified Oakland Raiders from the writers of ANG Newspapers

This fills a BIG need area for the Raiders but makes me wonder what they are going to do with Huff now.

Storys are all over the net that Josh Brown has signed a 5 yr deal with St Louis. Trying to find a reputable link.

Schefter just reported it on NFLN. 5 years 14.2 mil. Price for Kickers just went up.

Tom Kowalski, of MLive.com, reports the Detroit Lions are close to finalizing a deal that would send DT Shaun Rogers to the Cleveland Browns for CB Leigh Bodden and a third-round draft pick.

per kffl

This means the Browns won't have a pick in this years draft until the 4th round.

some rumors ive seen today...

Jacksonville is close to signing Drayton Florence
Miami is the front runner to sign Eugene Wilson
Atlanta is close to signing Michael Turner
NYJ are the front runner to sign Randall Gay
Lito Sheppard could possibly be headed to Miami
NYG are interested in Clark Haggans

And the biggest rumor...

Green Bay is rumored to be offering 2nd and 4th round picks to Miami for Jason Taylor. seems like a pretty high price to me for someone who cant have much left in the tank. is he really the one piece that would put GB over the top?

Not all that high a price, honestly. Last year Miami would've been demanding at least a 1st and a 3rd. Yeah, he fell off some last year, but his play kicked back up to standard towards the end of the season.

EDIT: Oh, the combination of Eugene Wilson and Lito Sheppard would be great.

Interest in Walker seems high

Quote:
At least 10 teams have been in contact with the agent for the wide receiver who was released Friday by the Denver Broncos, including all four NFC East clubs, according to a source.
The 49ers, Bills, Bucs, Panthers, Raiders and Vikings also have reached out to agent Kennard McGuire regarding Walker. No visits had been scheduled as of early Saturday.
The Cowboys and Eagles have a couple connections working in their favor in pursuit of Walker. Dallas receivers coach Ray Sherman coached Walker in Green Bay. Walker is friends with Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb and the two have been training together in Arizona for several weeks.
Among the others teams showing interest, Walker is said to be intrigued by the prospect of playing in Mike Martz and Jon Gruden directed offenses in San Francisco and Tampa, respectively.

The Carolina Panthers added a key role player for their defense Saturday by reaching a two-year, $4 million deal for Browns cornerback Ricardo Colclough.

Should be a good special teamer and probably nickel back. Good depth move.

Agent: Eagles to sign ex-Raider Clemons

By LES BOWEN
Philadelphia Daily News

Chris Clemons, who had eight sacks as a linebacker-defensive end for the Raiders last season, will sign with the Eagles today, agent Don Henderson said last night.
"We'll get it done," Henderson predicted, as Clemons embarked on his first free-agent visit. "He can get to the quarterback, coming off the edge, which is what they said they want from him."

Clemons (6-3, 240) spent two seasons as a sub with the Redskins and was out of football in 2006 before managing to tie for the Raiders' team lead in sacks last season, with ex-Eagle Derrick Burgess. His brother, Nic Clemons, is a Broncos defensive tackle.

Henderson said Clemons, 26, has "a great attitude, a great love for the game, great respect for the game."

I really hate to lose Clemons. I think the Raiders should have spent the money on him and not on Kelly.

Vikings, WR Berrian agree to terms

ATLANTA -- Several league sources have confirmed the Minnesota Vikings and Bernard Berrian have reached an agreement on a multiyear contract.

The deal is believed to be a six-year deal worth $42 million, with $16 million in guarantees. Berrian, who led the Bears with 71 receptions for 951 yards in 2007, was considered one of the top available receivers on the open market; and his signing gives the Vikings a legitimate big play threat on the outside.

Bears sign Lance Briggs

BY BRAD BIGGS

The Bears might have lost Bernard Berrian, but it didn't take them long to land their other major free agent.

Three-time Pro Bowl linebacker Lance Briggs has agreed to a $36 million, six-year contract to remain with the organization.

The Saints re-signed WR Devery Henderson to a one-year, $2 million contract.

Masochists. Seeing the Saints bring back their drop-prone wideout is the most surprising free agent move yet, although the price was right. New Orleans still hopes to upgrade the position, but Henderson will be back to compete for a starting gig with Robert Meachem. Don't expect Henderson to suddenly develop now. Mar. 1 - 5:48 pm et
