New Bills offensive coordinator Turk Schonert anticipates using RB Marshawn Lynch as an every-down back in 2008. Schonert said, "He's had a year, he understands the protections now," said Schonert. "He'll be an integral part of our third-down package." It doesn't sound like Marshawn will be getting pulled in passing situations any more. Expect more receptions and plays designed to put Marshawn in space under this new look. Sounds like you should raise the bar a little bit next year for Lynch.

NYG DB Sam Madison (abdomen) went through individual drills and is considered questionable. Nickel corner Kevin Dockery is still nursing a hip strain and doesn't sound he will be ready to play

Romo, Brady, LT2 may miss Pro Bowl

All three may be invited to the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am golf tournament which is scheduled to take place during the Pro Bowl. While all three are scheduled to appear in the Pro Bowl already, the NFL has previously allowed Brady to miss the Pro Bowl to play in the AT&T Pro-Am in 2004.

Bengals | Lewis says Johnson will not be traded
Wed, 16 Jan 2008 09:40:49 -0800

Mark Curnutte, of The Cincinnati Enquirer, reports Cincinnati Bengals head coach Marvin Lewis said the team will not be trading WR Chad Johnson. "There will be no trade of Chad Johnson. He felt he was unduly chastised, ridiculed, we defended him then. ... He is a professional football player. He is a Cincinnati Bengal for quite a while," Leis said.

It is sounding like Seahawks WR Deion Branch may start training camp on the PUP (physically unable to perform) list and maybe into next season.

I wouldn't put a whole lot of stock into something reported on PFW....

The Baltimore Sun reports Jason Garrett will choose between becoming the Ravens' head coach or staying in Dallas. A decision could come Thursday.

The Falcons are out of contention. We suspect Cowboys owner Jerry Jones is willing to match whatever the Ravens offer financially. Garrett's waffling isn't sitting well in Baltimore, but he's still the best option the Ravens could have to turn around their perennially anemic offense. If Garrett balks at their offer, the Ravens will likely turn to Eagles DBs coach John Harbaugh. They are no longer considering Marty Schottenheimer or Rex Ryan. Jan. 16 - 9:28 pm et

The Titans will reportedly finalize a deal with ex-Broncos assistant Mike Heimerdinger on Thursday to be their offensive coordinator.

The Broncos are expected to target ex-UCLA head coach Karl Dorrell to replace Mike Heimerdinger as an offensive assistant.

A woman who accused Titans Pacman Jones of assault and battery in Las Vegas has dropped her claim. Good news for Pacman but still he will suffer because he isn't supposed to be in strip clubs at all.

49ers QB Trent Dillfer could be headed for retirement. At the very least he will lose his backup gig with the niners as soon as QB Shaun Hill is signed to a contract.

If Tony Dungy decides to retire The Colts may be one of the few teams that will promote from within the organization. There is a chance the Redskins will do so also.

Exactly, Jim Calldwell will be the man if Dungy retires. The Redskins reportedly were really impressed with Mora. Although Redskins Defensive Coach Gregg Williams remains a strong candidate to move up to Head Coach.

Bills WRs Josh Reed and Lee Evans will both undergo off season surgery. Reed will have back surgery while Evans will have surgery on his shoulder. Evans has been bothered by shoulder problems for 2 seasons. Evans really banged it up in the last game of the season.

Surgery for Evans may turn out be good timing. He may be able to turn his game up a notch if he comes back pain free and fully mobile.

Bills LT Jason Peters underwent surgery for a sports hernia in early January. He will miss the Pro Bowl, but will be ready to go for next season. Peters had an excellent first full year blocking on the blind side. He's a steal at $2 million in 2008 and the Bills have plenty of cap space to use this off season.

Jason Garrett stays in Dallas

ESPN - Garrett turns down offers, remains Dallas' offensive coordinator - NFL

Quote:
The Cowboys did not immediately comment Thursday on Garrett's status, but the Ravens released a statement about it.
"We did negotiate with Jason Garrett to become our head coach. In the end, he decided to stay in Dallas," the Ravens said.
The Ravens are now turning their attention to Eagles secondary coach John Harbaugh, who is expected to get his second interview Thursday.
