I dont know if anyone really cares at this point, but....

Quote:
The Bears on Tuesday released Adam Archuleta. Playing in 14 games with 10 starts in 2007, the veteran safety registered 63 tackles, two sacks, one interception and one forced fumble.

The Bears acquired Archuleta from the Washington Redskins on March 22, 2007 in exchange for a sixth-round draft pick. The 5-11, 215-pounder had been benched by the Redskins midway through the 2006 season after signing the richest free-agent contract by a safety in NFL history.

With the Bears, Archuleta struggled in run support and pass coverage. He broke his hand in a Week 3 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, sat out one game, and then returned the following week. He eventually lost his starting job in late November to Brandon McGowan.

In his lone season in Chicago, Archuleta failed to revert to the form he displayed in St. Louis when Bears coach Lovie Smith and defensive coordinator Bob Babich were Rams assistants.

With Smith serving as Rams defensive coordinator during Archuletas first three NFL seasons, the Arizona State product started 12 games and helped St. Louis reach the Super Bowl as a rookie in 2001 before registering career highs with 116 tackles in 2002 and five sacks in 2003.
BEARS AGREE TO TERMS WITH FOUR ROOKIE FREE AGENTS: The Chicago Bears agreed to terms with the following four undrafted rookie free agents today:
  • Zacrey Atterberry, P, Lindenwood
  • Gerard Lee, DE, Oregon State
  • Ryan Poles, G, Boston College
  • Marcus Stone, TE, North Carolina State

You are probably right, Archuleta will probably be picked up. Most likely after an unforseen camp injury.

Redskins WR Randle El Gets Scoped.

Washington Redskins receiver Antwaan Randle El, with crutches under both arms, said Wednesday the surgery on his right knee went as expected and that he hopes to return to the field for offseason practices next month.

Randle El was once considered to be very promising. In Dynasty situations he probably has been at best a bye week starter unless the league has a large number of teams. He hopes to be back quick, it was just a quick cleanup, let us hope so. With Mini-Moss and two nice WRs drafted he may become fantasy invisible right before our very eyes.

Ravens Lose TE Quinn Sypniewski For The Year.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Quinn Sypniewski will miss the entire 2008 season following a serious knee injury he suffered during a pre-draft minicamp, Ravens head coach John Harbaugh said today.
Sypniewski was carted off the practice field on April 18 when making contact with linebacker Antwan Barnes. The team remained cautiously optimistic, but following recent surgery the team determined that Sypniewski will not play again this year.

This is bad News for the Ravens as Sypniewski has played very well when called upon. Let's hear it for the very talented Todd, always on the injury report and usually a game time decision, Heap!!!

Texans' OL Charles Spencer Back In Camp.

The start of Houston Texans minicamp on Friday was more than just a practice to Charles Spencer. The 6-foot-4, 338-pound offensive lineman took the field with his team for the first time since breaking his left leg nearly two years ago, a severe injury that doctors thought could end his career.
It's a minor miracle that he's even playing again, but Spencer's goal now is earning back his job.

If he is healthly enough to make the roster cuts this summer the Texans O-line may have some nice depth this season.

What do you think Sarge? I think Koren could contribute in the right situation.

Eagles have needs at WR.
Bengals might need help if the CJ holdout holds.
Seahawks again? Hackett gone.
Jaguars are still WR light.
Bucs still looking for a solid 2nd or 3rd WR.
Broncos could still use some help.
Raiders still have a bit of a WR vacuum.

Chiefs and Raiders are the teams showing initial interest. For the Eagles, Seahawks, Jags, Bucs, and Broncos, hes a one year stop gap at best. Oakland, KC, and Cincy are his best bets. I think he could easily work out of the slot in KC or Cincy and produce. Oakland..eh..not sure.

Charges Dropped Againts Broncos DT Marcus Thomas

The Florida state attorney's office has dropped its case against starting Denver Broncos defensive tackle Marcus Thomas.
Thomas was arrested in March in Clay County, Fla., for cocaine possession. However, formal charges were never filed. According to the Clay County clerk's Web site, the case was abandoned Friday.

A nice break for the Broncos and Thomas.

Truncale said in March that both Thomas and Carter told the arresting officers that the cocaine was in the possession of Carter, who was driving when Carter's truck was stopped for a traffic violation.
Had they willingly stated this, Carter would have been the one to go. Constructive possession works, but its alot easier when the guy whos at fault just owns up to it and gets on down the road. Is Mr Carter going to make some money for taking the ride? Maybe, but if it was really his its the right thing to do. Im sure Mr. Thomas also signed a statement implicating Carter in exchange for the dismissal.

Now the question to be asked is will he move away from drugs or is this going to be a guy that ends up getting banned and cut?

Former Lions WRs Charlie Rogers and Mike Williams Struggle.

Rumors have said that former #2 pick WR Charlie Rogers could be headed to Montreal in the CFL. This will, of course, drop him off the Fantasy Football landscape.

Former #10 pick WR Mike Williams is a slightly more interesting story. Mike as we all know never met a twinkie that he didn't eat. He has been overweight and non-productive ever since signing with the Lions in 2005. Williams has been hiding on the Titans since they picked him up. When the Titans got him he was around 270 lbs and was told to trim down or out the door he goes. Williams is said to have lost over 30 lbs and is about 10 lbs from his college playing weight. This has lead to some speculation that one of the reasons the Titans did not go for a WR early in the draft is because Williams may be able to contribute this year.

We will watch this closely as Williams may become an interesting grab very late in your draft this year as he is almost completely off everybodys radar at this point.

LETS GET IT ON!!!!!!!

Quote:
OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- The Baltimore Ravens are doing more than merely fighting for jobs at their first mandatory minicamp under new coach John Harbaugh.

They're fighting each other, too.

Nearly all 85 players in camp were involved in a squabble Saturday that began when offensive tackle Oniel Cousins and defensive tackle Amon Gordon threw punches after running back Allen Patrick was taken down hard on a burst up the middle. All the players surged toward the middle of the field, and it was nearly two minutes before peace was restored.

"Guys are competing, so tempers flare a little bit," Harbaugh said.

Later during practice, which was held indoors because of rain, defensive backs Corey Ivy and Frank Walker came to blows during a blocking drill.

"Don't grab me, man!" Ivy yelled.

After the players were separated, veteran cornerbacks Chris McAlister and Samari Rolle spoke with Walker, who signed as a free agent during the offseason after playing with Green Bay in 2007.

"Chill out, man," Rolle said. "There's too much at stake."

For the first time in a decade, the Ravens are conducting a minicamp without Brian Billick, who was fired in January after a nine-year run. There are jobs at stake and a new offense to learn under Cam Cameron, which has fueled emotions at the three-day camp that started Friday. The players aren't wearing pads, but there's plenty of hitting going on -- much of it after the whistle.

"Man, it's intense out there," tight end Todd Heap said. "Everybody's trying to learn what's going on and everybody's a little bit on edge."

In a way, that's how Harbaugh likes it. Seeing two players fight on the practice field is nothing new, but to have the rest of the team join the fray is a sight not often seen on the football field. Yet none of the coaches immediately sought to restore peace, and defensive coordinator Rex Ryan was actually laughing as he stood in the background.

Ryan is one of the few holdovers from the Billick regime. He worked with Harbaugh years ago at the University of Cincinnati, and knows that Baltimore's new head coach won't let things get too crazy.

"He's always in control. When it's not going his way, he'll get it going his way," Ryan said. "That's part of it right now. I think there are a lot of people that are anxious and uncertain. We want it to be chaos. That's what John's talked about. You look at the tempo of our offense, the way we're setting things up and the different things we're doing under Cam. It's just new. It's more pressure on everybody."

Pressure is trying to rebound from a 5-11 season, which is exactly what the Ravens are attempting to do. Throw in the uncertainty of playing for a new coach, an undetermined depth chart and the fatigue that comes from practicing twice a day, and just about anything can happen.

"You go 5-11, guess what? You'd better be intense," defensive end Trevor Pryce said. "It doesn't matter who the coach is. You have to develop a sense of urgency at 5-11. You have to earn the right to have a calm and relaxing offseason, and you can't do that at 5-11."

Pryce, however, can't condone the fighting. Not while teams like the New England Patriots and New York Giants are using their minicamps to build on successful seasons.

"Go ahead, wrestle each other, pull each other's facemasks, yeah, great, wonderful, have fun. Now we gotta go play the Patriots. They won 18 straight football games. The Giants won the Super Bowl. Do we really have to prove we're all men?" Pryce said. "If we can get all this out of the way now, scrapping and being undisciplined and 80 men jumping in a pile together, fine. So now we've proved I'm tough, you're tough, hooray, we're all tough. Are we a good football team? What's more important, proving you're tough or proving we're a good football team? That's how I look at it."

Pryce said he was laughing at his teammates as they piled together in the middle of the field. It wasn't funny to Cousins and Gordon, but afterward they seemed at peace with each other.

"At the end of the day, we're teammates," Cousins said.

"We settled it like men," Gordon insisted. "No hard feelings."

Harbaugh liked the show of emotion, but doesn't expect to see a similar show anytime soon.

"We had a good practice. Our guys are competitive, they like football, it's going to happen," he said. "I think as they realize the tempo of the practice is going to stay the same, it will probably happen less and less. They're a feisty bunch."
First signs of life the Ravens have shown since 2006
