jeez, the highest $$ ever given to a DT, and he hasnt even played there yet? played 7 games this season and recorded 27 tackles and 1 sack. sounds like a great move.

Bye, bye Ward

  • -- Adios Derrick Ward? --
    Thu Feb 28, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The Star Ledger reports somebody involved in the process said it looks like RB Derrick Ward was not going to re-sign with the Giants. "Not looking like it," the person replied via e-mail. Again, these things can change on the day before free agency, but it's at least a sure thing Ward will test the market and won't re-sign with the Giants today. After that, who knows? But it doesn't look likely at this point that he'll be back in blue.

Just heard reported on ESPN sportscenter, that Isaac Bruce and Ferrotte were cut by St. Louis Rams.

Bruce was the last player still associated with the team while in LA

The Vikings have reportedly offered the Texans a third-round pick in exchange for backup QB Sage Rosenfels.

The corner, defensive line, and running back needy Texans are going to have to think long and hard about this one. As great a backup as Rosenfels is (he went 4-1 as a starter and threw 15 TDs in 2007), the Texans need draft picks. They're said to be holding out for a second-rounder. If acquired, Rosenfels would compete to start with Tarvaris Jackson, and probably be the favorite. Feb. 28 - 6:30 pm et

that is correct:

Rams released WR Isaac Bruce.

St. Louis asked Bruce to take a pay cut and he refused. The Rams have put themselves in awful cap condition with poor free agent signings the past few seasons, and now have to cut their most tenured player. Bruce has plenty left in the tank, and will instantly be on San Francisco's radar. If the Rams are smart, they'll make him another contract offer. Drew Bennett shouldn't be relied on as a starter in new coordinator Al Saunders' offense. Feb. 28 - 4:50 pm et

I wouldn't mind the Raiders picking him up if the price is right...

Texans re-signed WR Andre Davis to a four-year, $16 million contract. NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the deal contains $8 million guaranteed.

Davis returned three kicks for TDs last year and caught 33 passes for 587 yards and three scores while filling in for Andre Johnson. The Texans had to pay up to keep him, but he's never had sustained success in the NFL. The guarantees are significantly more than what comparable players Justin Gage and Patrick Crayton received. Davis will be Houston's third receiver in 2008. Feb. 28 - 4:01 pm et
