Betts is still the superior receiver, but you are likely right. betts is getting paid well for his role so he will likely enjoy the yaer off then catch another deal.

I see where the titans are serious in resigning Bironis. That would be a very good move as he has the accuracy and the big leg.

Dom Capers Passes On Cowboys Offer.

Dom Capers has declined an offer from the Dallas Cowboys to become the team's defensive coordinator or a team defensive consultant, the Dallas Morning News reported Tuesday.
Capers, the former head coach of the Carolina Panthers and Houston Texans, spent the past two seasons as defensive coordinator and assistant head coach of the Miami Dolphins.
Had Capers agreed to join Wade Phillips' staff, he would've been reunited with several assistant coaches.
A hiccup in the perceived Cowboy/ Dolphin alliance?

Nice Info, The Giants appear to be about to give Tynes a long term deal also.

Broncos: Engelberger Talks

Denver has had preliminary talks with free agent DE John Engelberger. If the Broncos re-sign Engelberger it could lead to a real cheapie offer to Ebenezer Ekuban who may have to move on.

Franchise Tags Due Thursday

Just a little note, Franchise Tag designations are due Thursday. Rather than throw a bunch of speculation out in the News thread at this point. It will be more concise to report of the Tags after the fact.

Bears Interested In Booker and Faneca?

The Bears are considering letting WR Muhsin Muhammad go and possibly signing FA WR Marty Booker.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears might have an interest in signing Pittsburgh Steelers OG Alan Faneca, who is scheduled to become a free agent this offseason.
Chicago has a need at guard and would preferably use Terrence Metcalf, who took over for Ruben Brown late in 2007, as a sixth lineman. Brown is about as certain to depart the Bears as Faneca is to leave the Steel City.

-- Shockey Expendable for a 2nd-Rounder? --
Wed Feb 13, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
The Nashville City Paper reports a report from SI.com says the Super Bowl champion New York Giants would require a second-round pick in exchange for TE Jeremy Shockey, who apparently is expendable after the Giants' offense jelled once he went down with a broken leg.

  • -- Booker Wants to Return to Bears --
    Tue Feb 12, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The Chicago Tribune reports the Bears have been contacted about re-signing WR Marty Booker, an NFL source said Tuesday. Booker, cut by the Miami Dolphins, has drawn interest from a number of teams. The Bears were not among the initial group which contacted Booker within 24 hours of his release, but Booker reportedly has made it clear that his first preference would be a return to Chicago.

  • -- Lloyd Lake Walks Out Before Deposition --
    Tue Feb 12, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • ESPN reports Lloyd Lake walked out on Tuesday before giving a scheduled deposition in connection with the lawsuit he filed against New Orleans Saints RB Reggie Bush. The former sports marketing agent said he was intimated that Bush's legal team had private security present, Bush's lawyer, David Cornwell, told ESPN. From the perspective of Lloyd Lake's attorney, Brian Watkins, they halted the deposition proceedings Tuesday after they saw a man who was with Cornwell flash a gun. "He made sure we saw it," said Watkins. Watkins told ESPN that Bush's attorneys refused to provide details about the man, such as a job description or a business card. According to AP, Watkins said Cornwell told him the bodyguard had a permit to carry a concealed weapon. Watkins said the man also flashed the gun to Lake in the building's lobby before the deposition. "It's outrageous that he shows up strapped for a deposition," Watkins said. "That's outrageous conduct in the lawyer world. Come on, we're lawyers. I don't threaten people, I sue them." Watkins said they will seek a court order to have subsequent depositions involving Lake held at a courthouse. "Bring the facts and leave the weapons at home," Watkins told ESPN.

  • -- Giants Players Getting Free Lap Dances --
    Tue Feb 12, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • The New York Daily News reports the Giants are still riding high on their Super Bowl victory - especially at New York's strip clubs. The ladies at Scores West danced adoringly for big-tipping RB Ahmad Bradshaw. Meanwhile, the strippers at Rick's Cabaret are offering free lap dances to all Giants. "They've spent a fortune here," says one dancer. "It's the least we can do to show our appreciation."

Browns :: QB

QB Quinn Involved In New Year's Eve Incident

Aaron Marshall, Cleveland Plain Dealer - [Full Article]

Browns QB Brady Quinn was with a group of hecklers outside a Columbus, Ohio bar shouting obscenities at gay passers-by on New Year's Eve. Police responded to a 911 call reporting a group of around 10 individuals shouting insults and broke up an argument between Quinn and a witness. The report stated that two fights took place that night, both involving a 6-foot white male with brown hair. Seth Harris, the 911 caller said, "I just walked outside and (Brady) exchanged many profanities with me and called me a faggot, of course. I knew who it was. It wasn't just directed at me, there were other people around, too." No charges were filed against Quinn.
