NFL | League may allow radio for defense
Sat, 9 Feb 2008 06:32:33 -0800

Mark Maske, of the Washington Post, reports the National Football League's reaction to the Spygate scandal involving the New England Patriots will include a renewed push this offseason to persuade owners to approve a proposal that would allow one defensive player per team to be connected to a coach on the sideline via a wireless communication device. The proposal would eliminate the need for coaches to signal in defensive plays from the sideline and eliminate any possibility of those signals being stolen by an opponent. "That should push this (approval of the proposal) over the top," said a league owner, who spoke on the condition of anonymity. "If there are no defensive signals, there's nothing to steal and nothing to videotape. I'm sure the league will want this and that should get it done."

Jim Zorn is Redskins New Head Coach.

The Washington Redskins hired Jim Zorn as their coach Saturday night, a surprise ending to a month-long search for a replacement for Joe Gibbs.Zorn's hiring was confirmed to ESPN.com's John Clayton on Saturday night by sources familiar with the situation.

Zorn, a former Seattle quarterback, has been the Seahawks' quarterbacks coach for the last seven years. The Redskins hired him to be their offensive coordinator on Jan. 26 while continuing their search for a head coach.

Gonna be some big changes in the Redskins O now. As a QB he threw a lot out of desperation/need and has spent most his time coaching QB's in the "West Coast".

Any takes on Wash as a West Coast Offense ??

eta: and now they need an OC. I hope he don't raid Seattle

Good Observation, This is pretty late in the coaching hiring cycle. The team that loses an OC now to the Redskins will probably end up hiring Slim Pickens as an OC.

I like 6-5, 255lbs Matt Schobel and Brent Celek.
We can save the money for something like; Andre' Davis UFA Houston Texans or Ken Hamlin, UFA, Dallas Cowboys
Then use our draft pick to find Tra Thomas replacement. With Winston Justice, being Runyan future replacement, the O-line will be the strong part of the offense again. Opening up holes for Bwest, Buck and Hunt!

I agree, maybe one of these guys can step it up. There was talk during the season of dropping Smith. Now they are paying him all this money?
