Marshawn Lynch, RB BUF

Bills running back Marshawn Lynch missed practice Wednesday because of a severely sprained left ankle, and is unlikely to play Sunday night when Buffalo hosts the unbeaten New England Patriots. Stopping short of ruling out Lynch, coach Dick Jauron said he was "not overly optimistic" the rookie would be able to play this weekend.

Harrington was declared the Falcons' backup quarterback to Byron Leftwich, who has an injured ankle, on Wednesday despite leading them to consecutive victories.
Harrington, who was 19-of-26 for 192 yards in last week's win at Carolina, was stunned by the decision, which he claims was not conveyed to him before coach Bobby Petrino announced it to the media. Leftwich practiced with the second string offense on Wednesday and his status for Sunday's game against Tampa Bay is uncertain. Continue monitoring the developments as Harrington's fantasy value could drop suddenly.

Derrick Ward (ankle) did not practice on Wednesday.
The running back has been bothered by ankle and groin injuries. He has not played since Oct. 21 versus San Francisco. Continue to monitor his progress, but things are not looking good.

David Garrard practiced with the Jaguars' first-team offense Wednesday, the latest step in his return to the starting lineup.
Garrard missed the last three games after spraining his left ankle Oct. 22 against Indianapolis. The Jaguars, who went 2-1 with Quinn Gray under center, expect Garrard back Sunday against San Diego. Garrard, who ran without pain last week, probably could have played Sunday at Tennessee. But the Jaguars decided to play it safe and hold him out one more week.

Panthers Injuries: Steve Smith Misses Practice, QBs Mending

Carolina Panthers receiver Steve Smith missed his second straight practice on Thursday with a shin injury.
The injury to Carolina's top receiver comes as the Panthers are finally getting healthier at quarterback. Vinny Testaverde and David Carr both practiced for a second straight day on Thursday, although head coach John Fox gave no indication who would start Sunday at Green Bay.
Starting safety Deke Cooper also returned to practice after sitting out Wednesday's workout with a shoulder injury. Running back DeShaun Foster was back on the field after missing a day with a sore toe.
Defensive tackle Damione Lewis (shoulder) missed his second straight practice.

Giants MLB Vows To Play This Week, But.

Pro Bowl middle linebacker Antonio Pierce vowed to play for the New York Giants against the Detroit Lions despite nagging "little headaches" from a concussion suffered last weekend. "If I ain't totally broke and I can play and run, I should be out there, and I think I will be," Pierce said Thursday after missing his second straight day of practice for Sunday's game in Detroit.
Pierce refused to say whether the medical staff had cleared him to practice, noting that he had cleared himself to work out on Friday. So this still bears close scrutiny.

Just and FYI,
Depth chart has changed in St. Louis. Antonio Pittman is now the back up for Stephen Jackson in St. Louis. Plan is to keep Leonard at FB, and have Pittman take over and spell Jackson when he needs rest.
