Nicholete With Bears News

Nikki sent me a pm to let me know that....

Bears QB Kyle Orton will start this week.

It will be interesting to see how he fares taking over the reins this late in the season. QB Rex Grossman is out with a sprained knee ligament and the Bears out of contention. It looks like the Bears want to take another look at Orton who QBed the Bears to a playoff appearance as a rookie.

See, the storyline is interesting, Orton that year was more of a caretaker style QB. "Look kid, we just want you to not make mistakes and we will let the Defense win the games". Orton has spent the Rex Grossman era on the practice squad imitating other QBs in the league playing against the first team Offense.

Cards TE Leonard Pope Placed On IR

The Arizona Cardinals placed starting tight end Leonard Pope, who was emerging as a presence in the middle of the field, on injured reserve Tuesday with a dislocated right ankle suffered in Sunday's loss at Seattle.

The loss of Pope for the final three games of the season further impacts an Arizona receiver corps already weakened by nagging injuries to starting wideouts Larry Fitzgerald and Anquan Boldin.

Pope was an up and comer at TE but it is time to hit the Wavier Wire if you were planning on using him in the playoffs.

Gumble out for Thursday's Brodcast .....

Bryant Gumbel will miss the NFL Network's Thursday night broadcast with a sore throat.
Rejoice, football fans, rejoice! Tom Hammond will replace Gumbel in a move that rivals Kyle Orton's ascension to starter as the most exciting news of the week. | 12/11/2007 9:12:00 PM
