I think the News and Rumors thread is still viable even in the off-season. It will definitely be useful through the playoffs with the vbookie and the playoff battle and just general NFL news. I wouldn't mind seeing a "2008 NFL Off-season News and Rumors" thread. It would be great for members to post anything they hear about trades, acquisitions, hirings and firings, off-season surgeries, etc. Sometimes news can be hard to find in the off-season. Anyways, just a thought.

My thinking right now is that we should continue this like it is going through the Super Bowl. After that, I am hoping that we can continue the news thread in a Monthly format, if it doesn't become too bulky. My thoughts on this being that as next season approaches our posters can come here and read several monthly threads and get a cram course of nearly everything happened in the off season. This I hope will be useful to our posters as it will have detail. As the season comes around there are a lot of articles on what happened in the offseason but the nature of these articles are usually limited to mentioning 10-12 top moves at best, just due to article size limitations. That's why I think that these monthly offseason News and Rumors threads could be very useful. As our members leagues start to wind up again they can come here and invest several hours to catch up on the offseason right away and have a leg up on the competition. It would also provide a quick but complete reference tool to come too when compiling cheathsheets etc. The NFL draft itself will present a challenge unto itself and we may have to sticky a Draft News thread just to contend with this News Flood itself. The detail and format of the off season News and Rumors content will of course depend on how many help by bringing news by. (hint, hint, var8rfan, gmrcharity and others who have contributed to the news. this year.) The News and Rumors thread this year became and excellent fantasy tool this year. That was due to all the hard work of our posters who brought us news and insight. I was amazed and very pleased by all the participation in the news thread. It became a well oiled news machine with posters/contributors updating each others items. I marveled at the amount of news that was generated and and at the speed at which we were on top of everything as it broke. Great Job, everyone!!!Last edited by Coachnorm; 12-28-2007 at 03:43 AM.

| Hot Mama | Great job, Norm ![]() and everyone else, of course. ![]() I've really enjoyed and utilized this thread this year. I agree that an off-season thread would be good as well, especially for those junkies (like me) who tend to hang about during the off-season lol. |

| Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Moderator | The Associated Press reports Dallas Cowboys WR Patrick Crayton has signed a four-year contract extension worth up to $14 million, according to his agent. Crayton will receive $6 million in guaranteed money. Good move by the Cowboys to wrap up Crayton. With the future status of Terry Glenn up in the air. |

"We would like for Marvin to be able to go and get some playing time in. That's our hope. We'll see if it materializes," coach Tony Dungy said earlier this week. | Bloggin' Outlaw Premium Member Moderator | Dallas Cowboys TE Jason Witten needs nine catches to break Kansas City Chiefs TE Tony Gonzalez's record of 102 receptions in a season by a tight end. Cowboys WR Terry Glenn may get to start this week. Sounds like he may be ready to play but if field conditions are bad he may be scratched. |

| Outlaw | 49ers coach Mike Nolan named Chris Weinke his starting QB for Week 17 on Friday. Brodie Croyle (probable, hand) practiced fully again on Friday and will start in Week 17 against the Jets. Marvin Harrison (questionable, knee) took part in all phases of Colts practice for the second straight day Friday. He will start in Week 17. Saints coach Sean Payton said Friday that Aaron Stecker (foot) will be a game-time decision against the Bears on Sunday. The Jaguars are expected to hold both Maurice Jones-Drew and Fred Taylor out of Sunday's game against the Texans. LaBrandon Toefield figures to carry the bulk of the load |

| Outlaw | Rudi Johnson (hamstring) has been ruled out for Week 17, effectively ending his season. Plaxico Burress (ankle) is listed as probable for Week 17. Wow this is the first time this year Plaxico is listed as probable so he will probably sit out haha. |

Smith underwent microfracture surgery on the same hip last February and didn't play a down in 2007. He will go down as the greatest undrafted receiver in NFL history, a guy whose toughness playing hurt in 2006 ultimately ended his career and will jeopardize his post-football life. source: Rotoworld |

| A.D.I.D.A.S Premium Member | Weinke to be Niners' starting QB Sunday 49ers coach Mike Nolan named Chris Weinke his starting QB for Week 17 on Friday. Shaun Hill isn't healthy enough to play. Weinke, who has a career record of 2-17, will make his first start since late last season, when he was a member of the Panthers. This will not help Frank Gore or Vernon Davis. | Deputy Premium Member Moderator | Take this for what it is worth, but the local beat writer on the Bengals reported full faith that Rudi is a cap casualty next year. He is over 3 Million next year and they didn't get what they expected. Look for Rudi to be gone, Landon Johnson to be gone, Madieu Williams to be gone...and look at OT Willie Anderson also to be gone(rumor is his foot injury is worse than expected and won't be ever healed fully).

| Outlaw | Dolphins VP of player personnel Bill Parcells will decide the future of coach Cam Cameron and GM Randy Mueller "quickly" to be "fair" to both men. Parcells will work on a decision this weekend, and both could be gone by Monday. The Tuna can begin interviewing potential replacements Jeff Ireland (as GM) and Tony Sparano (as coach) during Dallas' playoff bye. Ireland is the Cowboys' VP of scouting. Sparano is Wade Phillips' assistant head coach. |

| Outlaw | Newsday's Arthur Staple believes the Giants will pull their starters by the third quarter Saturday night. Staple believes coach Tom Coughlin is "playing a game" by acting like he intends to play to win, and that the Giants will sit players like Brandon Jacobs and Plaxico Burress if the Patriots jump out to a comfortable first-half lead. Staple thinks that the Giants will indeed try to win - but with their backups. |
