Titans QB Vince Young Leaves Game Injuried, Other Injury Notes.

Tennessee Titans quarterback Vince Young left Sunday's 13-10 loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers with a quadriceps strain.
The Titans said Young's return was probable, but he never re-entered the game, and Tennessee had to rely on backup Kerry Collins.

"He tried to stay loose if he could, in case we had an issue with Kerry," coach Jeff Fisher said. "At this point, he'll just be day to day, but it was not something he could have played effectively with."
Young agreed. He said it was too early to speculate about playing in next week's game at Houston.
Young was injured when he scrambled for a 2-yard gain and was pushed out of bounds by defensive tackle Jovan Haye in the third quarter. He started limping just as Haye caught up to him.
Arizona quarterback Kurt Warner left the Cardinals' 25-10 loss to Carolina with a sprained left elbow in the first quarter.
Tim Rattay replaced him. Warner, a two-time NFL MVP, made his first start of the year in place of Matt Leinart, who is out for the season with a broken collarbone.
Already missing starting running back Laurence Maroney, the New England Patriots lost his backup, Sammy Morris, to a chest injury during their 48-27 win over the Dallas Cowboys.
Morris, coming off consecutive 100-yard games in place of Maroney, was hurt early in the third quarter after he was tackled hard on a 2-yard gain. Receiver Donte Stallworth immediately signaled for team trainers, who spent several minutes examining Morris as he lay on the field.
After Morris slowly walked off the field and was examined on the sideline, his helmet was taken away and he was brought to the locker room.
Maroney missed his third straight game because of a groin injury. He was inactive despite practicing some during the week.
Tight end Benjamin Watson hurt his ankle in the second quarter when he was tackled near the sideline by Roy Williams after making a catch. Watson was slow getting up, then walked up and down the sideline a few times before being taken to the locker room.
Cowboys cornerback Anthony Henry, the NFL leader with four interceptions, was out for the second straight game with a high right ankle sprain. Jacques Reeves started in his place.
Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre was limping noticeably as he walked to the interview podium after a 17-14 win over the Washington Redskins. He said somebody rolled up on his ankle on an early scramble.
"It really doesn't feel very good right now, but the bye week will help a little bit," Favre said. "I'm sure it will hurt two weeks from now; it hurt before the game."
Tight end Bubba Franks hurt his knee in the second half and was unable to return.

Chargers Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick sprained his right foot early in San Diego's 28-14 win over Oakland. X-rays were negative, and Hardwick said he'll have an MRI exam Monday.
Kyle Boller started at quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens in place of the injured Steve McNair in their 22-3 win over the St. Louis Rams.
McNair was on the active list despite a strained groin and a stiff back.
Rams QB Marc Bulger said he should be ready to play next week. Wide receiver Drew Bennett left the game with a hamstring injury in the second quarter, further depleting St. Louis' thin receiving crew. Rams center Brett Romberg (left ankle) and defensive end Leonard Little (sprained left toe) were also injured.
Cincinnati right tackle Willie Anderson, who had made 116 consecutive starts, was on the inactive list for the Bengals' 27-20 loss to the Chiefs. Anderson has been slowed by a chronic foot injury.
Bears starting defensive tackle Darwin Walker was inactive for Sunday's 34-31 loss to the Vikings after spraining his left knee in last week's game against the Packers. Anthony Adams started in his place.
Safety Brian Dawkins (neck) and cornerback Lito Sheppard (knee) were inactive for the Philadelphia Eagles' 16-9 win over the New York Jets.

IRVING, Texas - How ironic Cowboys quarterback Tony Romo was seen jumping into the backseat of an awaiting SUV in the bowels of Texas Stadium with one arm pinned to his side, his shirt sleeve dangling empty.

Because in the Cowboys' 48-27 loss to the New England Patriots here Sunday afternoon, the Patriots' defense appeared to have Romo playing with one arm tied behind his back.

Romo suffered a left shoulder strain, and although he finished the game, he did have the shoulder wrapped, with his arm inside his shirt, close to his left side.

While Romo said he had suffered a rotator-cuff strain, Cowboys assistant trainer Britt Brown said it would more appropriate to call the injury a "shoulder strain."

When Romo was asked if he thought he'd be able to play in next Sunday's game against the Minnesota Vikings, here at Texas Stadium, Romo said little, only giving a facial expression as if to imply, "Are you kidding? Me miss a game?"

Romo will be reevaluated on Monday.

The Tennessee Titans are hoping quarterback Vince Young is a fast healer. Young had an MRI exam on Monday to check out his strained right quadriceps muscle. The results of the test weren't immediately available, and coach Jeff Fisher said Young would be considered day to day.

Watching the winless St. Louis Rams lose two more games while he nursed two broken ribs was long enough on the sidelines for Marc Bulger. It'll be months before those injuries heal, but his beat-up team needs him.
Bulger said Monday he plans to return to the lineup this week, and coach Scott Linehan said the quarterback would be cleared to play at Seattle.

If it's Monday, the Arizona Cardinals must be looking for a quarterback. Last week, they signed Tim Rattay as a backup to Kurt Warner, who took over for the injured Matt Leinart.
Now Warner is out indefinitely with a sprained left elbow, Rattay is the starter and the Cardinals are expected to sign Tim Hasselbeck as their backup as soon as they can decide how to clear a roster spot. Rattay and Warner are the only quarterbacks on the 53-man roster.


We have gone from the Leinart/Warner QB split to the Tim and Tim Show. Just goes to show that when you use more than one starting QB that the Fantasy Football Gods get angry.

Steve McNair was tired of trying to play in pain. Baltimore Ravens coach Brian Billick ran out of patience waiting for the quarterback to heal. So the two agreed: McNair sits out two straight games, then steps back into the starter's role upon his return.
Kyle Boller will start at quarterback for a second straight week on Sunday in Buffalo, Baltimore's final game before a much-needed bye. McNair could play if needed, but the Ravens would prefer he rest his lingering groin injury and sore back.
The objective is to get McNair three straight weeks off before the Ravens resume play on Nov. 5 in Pittsburgh.

I have heard from an reliable source (Phicinfan) that The Kansas City Chiefs is about to trade RB Michael Bennett to the Bucs. More detail to come about the actual signing. Here is a report that says it's in the works (Link).

It is hard to figure out what the exact pecking order will be but Bennett could well get a lot of use as he is a good runner and pass catcher. He might make a good Waiver Wire pickup for this week. The Bucs have lost Caddy for the year and Pittman for a couple of months. They activated Darby off the practice squad but he was then dropped as the Bucs picked up both FB Zach Crockett and RB Lionel Gates. If Bennett comes in a roster spot will have to be made

Seahawks starting defensive tackle Chuck Darby is facing knee surgery and will miss the rest of the season.

Torn Patella Tendon. They have had a hard time keeping DT Tubbs healthy this year, this doesn't help.

While the resurgent Chargers waited for word on the severity of Pro Bowl center Nick Hardwick's foot injury, All-Pro defensive tackle Jamal Williams underwent arthroscopic surgery on both knees Monday. Williams had loose particles that had been bothering him flushed out.
The Chargers have their bye this weekend, and "with a little luck," Williams will be able to play when the Chargers host Houston on Oct. 28, coach Norv Turner said.
"Based on what our doctors said, it would have been hard for him to keep going," Turner said a day after the Chargers beat the archrival Oakland Raiders for the eighth straight time, 28-14 behind LaDainian Tomlinson's four touchdowns. "That's why we've rested him the last couple of weeks. We hoped we could get to this point; we did. I think this is really going to help him be ready to play at the same level he's been playing over the next 10 weeks."
Williams has made every start this year, but has been held out of practice the last few weeks.
Hardwick, meanwhile, was having an MRI on his injured right foot. He was hurt on the seventh play from scrimmage, and the team said Sunday he had a sprain.

Running back Priest Holmes will practice Wednesday for the first time since a severe 2005 head and neck injury.
Chiefs coach Herm Edwards repeated Tuesday there's a chance Holmes could play at Oakland.
The Chiefs traded backup running back Michael Bennett to Tampa Bay for draft picks on Tuesday, creating a spot behind starter Larry Johnson and adding to speculation they might activate Holmes in time for Sunday's game against the Raiders.

New England Patriots running back Sammy Morris could be sidelined up to a month due to an injured bone in his chest, according to a report Wednesday on the Boston Herald's web site. Citing an anonymous league source, the newspaper reported that Morris will definitely miss Sunday's game against the Miami Dolphins.

The Associated Press reports Laurence Maroney (groin) will not play in Week 7 against the Dolphins.


Maroney reportedly ran well in a limited practice Wednesday, but isn't quite ready to suit up for contact.

Update: Jordan (back) practiced Wednesday and coach Lane Kiffin was pleasantly surprised at how well his RB bounced back from getting 24 touches in Week 6, the Oakland Tribune reports.

Recommendation: With no setbacks reported with his back, it's looking safe to deploy Jordan Sunday against the Chiefs.



As I said in another thread about Rhodes, Kiffin will use Rhodes sparingly until Kiffin feels he is comfortable with the offense. Jordan has done enough to secure the starting job and his back doesn't seem to be a significant problem ATM, so if Rhodes does play it will be to spell Jordan and on some passing downs.

Any word on if Ben Watson will play or not? I know his knees banged up and he has been limited in practice time.

Pats TE Ben Watson missed Wednesdays practice with what is listed as an ankle injury. Due to the Pats secretive injury policy we probabaly only hear if he practiced or not for the rest of the week. I will keep you apprised with what I can find out.

The first guy (Joey Harrington) to get a shot at replacing Michael Vick already flunked the test. Next up, Byron Leftwich.

The guard has changed at the Falcons camp. Not only has the change been made at QB but Petrino has announced the change with blunt words. He said that Lefty is the permanent Starting QB and Harrington is the permanent Backup QB suggesting that this change is final. Harrington probably didn't get a completely fair shake but that remains to be seen. Sounds like Lefty has the job for the rest of the year so he might be a nice pickup in leagues that start 2 QBs and QBs are scarce. But, quite frankly, Lefty probably won't fare much better in the current Falcon environment.

Can't agree with Coach more on this one. I said it in my blog but it's due repeating, this is a traveshamockery. Joey isn't the problem with the Falcon's passing game. The problem is the receivers. And Byron throwing the ball won't help solve that problem.
