Raiders coach Lane Kiffin has already declared JaMarcus Russell his starting quarterback for 2008.

Texans CB Dunta Robinson (torn ACL, hamstring) isn't expected to be ready to play until November of 2008.

Despite an ESPN report in December that Ahman Green was likely to be cut, Houston Chronicle beat writer John McClain says the Texans will bring him back.

ESPN Reports That Ravens Coach Brian Billick Has Been Fired

Less than a year after signing him to a contract extension through 2010, the Baltimore Ravens on Monday fired coach Brian Billick.

The dismissal of Billick was confirmed to ESPN's Chris Mortensen by owner Steve Bisciotti and to ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli by an assistant coach and a front office official.
Billick, 53, compiled an 85-67 record in nine seasons. The Ravens, who won the AFC North championship in 2006, struggled to a 5-11 mark this season, a year that included a nine-game losing streak.

The Miami Herald reports that Cam Cameron is likely to be fired by the end of the week.

Must be letting him enjoy his New Year celebration.

Titans QB Vince Young is Considered Day to Day

Tennessee quarterback Vince Young will be day to day this week after reinjuring his right quadriceps muscle. His status for Sunday's AFC wild-card game with San Diego could be in question.

Obviously not having Young would be a big problem for the Titans in the Wild Card Playoff Game. The Titans got the job done vs Indy to get into the game.
I hope the game plan this week is a tad more aggressive or it won't matter much anyhow.

  • Chargers FB Lorenzo Neal (fibula) did not play in the team's Week 17 game because of leg injury. Neal is unlikely to play in the team's wild-card game. Neal is the lead blocker for the Chargers run game and could be really missed. If the Titans front 7 is healthy enough to play the rushing yards will be a little harder to come by.
  • Chargers DT Jamal Williams (ankle, hip) and LB Marques Harris (hand) did not play in the team's Week 17 game. Both both are expected to play in the wild card game this week.
  • The Cowboys D sat out a few players last week but most are expected to be able to practice this week and the D unit should be in pretty good shape the following week.
  • A couple of players on the Cowboys O are expected to miss practice this bye week and hopefully return to practice and play in the divisional battle.Dallas Cowboys C Andre Gurode has a banged up knee. Cowboys WR Terrell Owens (ankle) did not play in the team's Week 17 game because of an ankle injury. His ankle is still in a walking boot. It's nice to have that bye week!
  • Cowboys WR Terry Glenn did not report any soreness in his knee after playing in the team's Week 17 game. The coaches were happy he was able to get some game action before the playoffs started.

The Green Bay Packers have a lot of dinged up players but most should be ready after a bye weeks rest. The only ones that seem a little iffy are CB Will Blackmon, x-rays show he didn't break his foot but is a weeks rest enough? Guards Jason Spitz with a quad injury and OG Junius Coston with a calf strain. Both could be ready to play but neither are considered a sure thing at this point.

Coach Romeo Crennel revealed that the Browns will listen to offers for impending restricted free agent Derek Anderson this offseason.

The Browns will at least place the first- and third-round tender on Anderson, and may go as far as franchise tagging him. "Sometimes people can make you an offer and you can say, 'No, I think I'm going to stick with what I've got,'" said Crennel. "Sometimes they make you an offer and you say, 'Oooh!'" The most likely scenario remains Cleveland keeping Anderson for at least one more year. Brady Quinn's $9 million deal is very workable for a backup.

Raiders | Asomugha intends to void remainder of deal
Mon, 31 Dec 2007 09:06:57 -0800

Steve Corkran, of the Bay Area News Group, reports Oakland Raiders CB Nnamdi Asomugha said he intends to void the remainder of his current deal and enter free agency.

Porter I am not too worried about but I would definitely hate to lose Asomugha.

The Palm Beach Post reports the Dolphins are considering keeping head coach Cam Cameron in place for the 2008 season.

Bill Parcells is reportedly exploring his options, but leaving open the possibility of retaining Cameron if he can't get his man. "If he can get the guy he wants to replace him, he will," a source told the Post. "If he can't, he'll keep him." Cowboys assistant HC Tony Sparano and Cardinals OC Todd Haley are believed to be high on Parcells' list. Romeo Crennel may be atop it

  • Redskin QB Todd Collins will continue as the starter for the wild card game this week. It's starting to sound like Jason Campbell won't be available at all for the playoffs.
  • Redskin WR James Thrash has spent a few days in a walking boot and sounds iffy for this weeks Wild Card Game.
  • Bears RB Cedric Benson had the cast removed from his broken left ankle Monday. He plans to begin running in March
  • Broncos WR Brandon Stokley won't need offseason surgery on his knee despite missing the Broncos' final three games. Stokley signed a $10.1 million extension through 2010 during the season and will at worst be Denver's third receiver in 2008. He has an outside shot to start.
  • Jets WR Laveranues Coles said the Jets told his agents that they are concerned about giving Coles a contract extension because of his age and his diminished production this season.
  • The NFL Network reports the Raiders have fired defensive coordinator Rob Ryan.
  • Bengals QB Carson Palmer had some coaching criticism but there seems to be some confusion as to who the coach exactly was.
  • Steeler WR Hines Ward and LB Troy Polamalu are expected to play in the Wild Card round against Jacksonville
  • NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Ravens have asked permission to interview Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett regarding their head coaching vacancy. Garrett is becoming quite popular as the coaching jobs open up. We hear owner Jerry Jones is whispering in Garretts ear that he may be the next Cowboys head coach. Maybe MOJO has some inside scoop on this.
