As with every year, expect many, many updates as draft values and team needs seem to change almost daily leading up to the actual NFL Draft. Feel free to critique (not that I have to tell any of you that )

LOL, Not buyin it Mike. Seattle takes a 2nd/3rd rd TE so that Dallas can get the RB Seattle is scouting hard in the 1st Rd. Little too much homer hope on this draft You might be able to get Felix in the 1st. Thats it, Seattle won't take him

nothing homer involved in this. You really think Bennett drops that far in the draft?

By the way, many drafts have the Seahawks taking a tight end, and I think this will be the top rated TE in the draft come draft time. Quite a bit of time left to change that thought but right now, that is my projection.

Seattle was looking at Mendenhall in Dec. They may not get him or Stewart, but they will not pass on them. If they are gonna go TE, I saw 1 mock where they took Bennett in the 3rd. They have looked at Sweed for TE. They aren't going to take Felix Jones. So what happens. If Stewart and Mendenhall are gone they will have to choose between OL and TE (Davis) or DT. They will take RB in rd 2 if they didn't in rd 1.

Seattles biggest downfall right now is the runng game and that is a huge problem. If the desired RB's are gone it comes down to OL, or DL/TE. Don't forget they drafted Alexander when they had Waters and then lost Hutch in a huge fuckup. Fixing the running game is priority #1, then TE/DL. I wouldn't be suprised to see them take a TE in rd 3 but no sooner

Interesting, but the past is just that, the past.

Right now, the Seahawks are looking to make one more run with the current head coach. Do they risk bringing in another running back in the first round and dealing with that controversy?

I am clearly in the thought process that running back is a primary need for the future of this team, but this year is a short term process for the Seahawks I think.

Good point. And whats the best way to do that ?? Running game or TE when you have a top passing game already ??

Do you think the team has truly given up on Shaun Alexander, or is this just fan reaction?

I like what AD is saying. I, myself, was a little surprised to see the TE pick there. IMO, regardless of what other people are saying (even though you had a good point about giving SA another chance, especially with MoMo backing him up), I agree that Seattle's going to take an RB. I think that Hasselbeck and Holmgren function well enough together that Holmgren will be able to take more time to work with an oncoming RB.

I think they need to truly give up on him. He has not even come close to the numbers we saw in '05, and he's playing through injuries that aren't healing. I love Shaun, but I think it's time for Big Mike to throw in the towel.

Here's hoping that the first 24 teams in the draft forget about Darren McFadden.... :crosses fingers:

Going to be interesting to see what kind of news leaks out of Seattle. I remember back several years when Emmitt Smith went into the tank for over a year. The fans were screaming for him to be replaced, and most were convinced it was going to happen. He followed that up with two consecutive pro bowl seasons.

Not saying that will happen with Shaun Alexander, but it isn't out of the ordinary to players to go into long slumps.

Caleb Campbell is a local boy, and I can't wait to see where he ends up!
Caleb Campbell Scouting Report - 2008 NFL Draft Prospect

Caleb Campbell Scouting Report

Position:SS School & Year/Status:Army - SeniorHeight & Weight:6'2 - 224 lbs.

2008 NFL Draft Prospect - Scouting Report
Campbell started six games during the 2004 season, earning a selection to the Conference USA All Freshman Team. He started all eleven games during his sophomore season, leading Army in tackles with 97 and added five interceptions. He did miss two games due to injury during his junior season, but still finished third in team tackles with 59. He was named team captain before his senior season. The Army granted a special waver to Campbell in order for him to be able to play in the NFL during the 2008 season and will still play in the East-West Shrine Bowl game.
A few statistics: Great size and speed combination. Very quick and fast (4.48-40). Can run with most receivers. Takes good angles while pursuing. A sideline-to-sideline player. Great range, can play the whole field. Smooth backpedaling. Turns his hips well. Plays the ball well when it is in the air. Can leap over the receiver. Does not bite or play fakes. Disciplined player who will stay with his assignment. Will come up quickly to support the run. Great open field tackler. An intimidating hitter. He could use better coaching, his footwork needs correction, and he will need to improve the use of his hands. He also sometimes loss focus. Is big for a safety but small for OLB. He is a special player. Campbell is one of the better athletes in this draft. He sometimes gets by with pure athleticism. He is fast and agile enough to play safety in the NFL, but there's talk he can move to outside linebacker (although, he is undersized and under-strength for that position). He's not a twiner, he is a real football player. He definitely has a chance to impress in the all star game and could be a diamond in the rough.
------------------------------------

His little brother graduated with my daughter, and is an awesome athlete in his own right. What makes him special is that he only has one foot. He is currently training for the Para Olympics out in San Diego. Great kids, and Great Athletes. Whoever lands Caleb lands a big time talent!

The Eagles draft a wide receiver in the first round??? Clearly this is fantasy.

The last time the Eagles drafted a wideout in the first round it didn't go so well.... a decision that has haunted this team for years.

Still on the board at the time: Reggie Wayne, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, Chris Chambers

Caleb is the Army Safety. His little brother only has one foot. His name is Jeremy. He is bigger and stronger than Caleb, and he too was a great 3 Sport athlete. He is now in San Diego preparing for the Para Olympics. I bet he runs a 4.40 though. He never even had a proper leg for athletics until he was a senior. He just decided to run a track meet for the disabled, and they discovered him there. His time as a Junior was the second fastest time in the USA for the Adult division. They fitted him for a proper leg at that point, and started to prepare him for the Olympics. He missed the last one cuz he wanted to graduate with his class.

Little Brother Jeremy:
Para Athletics - Jeremy Campbell
I googled him and got his entrance agreement.

Sorry about this, but they are great kids and I am very fond and proud of their accomplishments!

I'd say the little brother is faster. He just never realized he only had one real leg. He never felt like he had a handicap, and most teams we played never knew either, until his leg would fly off, or he would snap it during a game. People would damn near get sickwhen it happened. Then he'd hop over to the bench and put it back on. These kids are just great!

Mike,

As a Jets fan I hate your pick at 6. Vernon Gholston, when Sedrick Ellis is on the board. Never happen IMO. Gholston will drop. He was originally a 2nd rounder that rose to the first. This guy takes off too many plays. Did you see him in the bowl game? He was terrible. He had no hustle at all. He took way too many plays off. I know many Jet fans are predicting him at 6 but I think the current management is too smart to make that big of a mistake. I don't see this guy in the top 10 at all. Sedrick Ellis on the other hand, I'd be surprised if he's still there at 6. Of course Chris Long is my first choice, if Sedrick Ellis is gone too then the Jets will probably trade down. That is if they don't trade up for Long if he is somehow there for the third or forth pick. The Raiders will have to be at 5th unless McFadden is still there.

I think Gholston projects to the OLB position much better than Ellis would, but thanks for the input. I expect many of these players values to change over the coming weeks though.

Gholston would surprise me a bit for the Jets, but Ellis would surprise me even more. Ellis would be a terrible fit in the 3-4, but would be a great fit in a 4-3, one gap type scheme.

If i was the Texans, I would love to get Jonathan Stewart. I think he could be the best RB coming out of this draft (after McFadden). He's big and can catch passes, and stayed healthy the whole season which probably alleviates some of the durability concerns. He still produced when Dixon went down even though he was the focal point of every defense. I think he'll be a stud.
