I was expecting to have a 3rd added, but it's also nice to see a total of 4 picks added for Cincinnati!! That 3rd will come in handy I hope.

Seattle got nothin'. I didn't realize Cincy lost any FA's. Just thought half the team was under suspension ??

I'd suggest a WR3, perhaps?

What is a compensatory pick and how do you get them?

Compensatory picks are part of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. Basicly, It just trys to maintain the number of players on each roster. If your team loses more players to free agency then they sign themselves they could receive compensatory picks.

Ok, I'm also fairly unfamiliar with this too. How do they then determine the round that you are to pick in?

COMPENSATORY DRAFT PICKS: Compensation awarded by the league to teams who lost more UFAs than they signed. Compensation is in the form of extra draft picks added to the end of rounds three through seven. The quantity of picks is equivalent to the difference of UFAs signed to UFAs lost. For example, if a team loses 4 UFAs and signs 1 UFA, they will receive three Compensatory Selections. The value of the picks is determined by the difference of the contracts signed by the players lost and those acquired. The highest possible compensatory pick is the 31st of the third round (91st overall). If a team has signed an equal number or more UFAs than it lost, no "Compensatory Picks" are awarded.

I wonder who the best player ever taken with one of these types of draft picks was...

This system completely baffles me but hey - I'm happy the Eagles came away with 3 picks. That 4th rounder could turn out to be big.

A third rounder in this draft class could be huge.

Are these compensatory for losses this offseason or last?
I should think the Patriots would have gotten something for loosing Asante Samuel (who signed a rediculous contract)
Thats got to be worth a 3rd.

These are for players lost last year in FA period. Thus the high picks for Cincy. Yes, with the loss of Samuel....NE should probably get an extra 3rd rounder next year.
