Saints looking to move up

NFL Network's Adam Schefter reports the Saints have had contact with the Rams about a potential trade up in the NFL Draft.
Schefter calls the talks "preliminary." The Saints could be eyeing Glenn Dorsey or Vernon Gholston with Will Smith in a contract season, but might have to offer 2009 picks because they have only six this year. While the Scott Linehan Rams have executed several draft-day trades, future choices won't entice St. Louis with Linehan in must-win mode. According to the new trade chart, it'd take New Orleans' first- and second-round picks to get to No. 2.

Interesting, they must feel that Dorsey is Atlanta's pick and want to move up in front of them. That could in turn have Ryan going to Atlanta

Chances are if Sedrick Ellis of Southern Cal slides to No. 9 overall in the first round the Bengals would take him. Ellis is ranked second among prospects in what is otherwise viewed as an average class of defensive tackles. Glenn Dorsey of LSU is expected to go in the top 5, as early as No. 3 to Atlanta.

New Orleans is 10th after all.

Here is where the fun starts........

From latest at Espn, Miami will go either Gholston or Jake Long. One report from NBC news has them very close to signing Jake Long.

If that happens, then #2 will be either Dorsey or Chris Long. Rumors are flying that some in St. Louis really want Dorsey. Obviously why New Orleans wants to deal.

Supposedly, Atlanta is set to take either Dorsey or Ryan if Dorsey is gone.

If that happens...there is a solid to better chance Chris Long will go to Oakland.

That gives KC the world. Since they are looking for multiple needs...they could deal down for someone wanting McFadden, or they could go ahead and take the OT they need in Clady....or take Gholston if there to then turn and trade away Allen for another 1st round pick and potentially a 2nd rounder. Thus they could take an Williams or Otah at OT with that pick. Could also address Qb in 2nd round with Henne, Flacco or Brohm as well.

I LOVE this part of the year!!

NBCSports.com's Tom Curran reports the Dolphins are nearing a contract agreement with Michigan OT Jake Long.
The deal would make Long the No. 1 overall pick. The Dolphins began talks with Long's agent, Tom Condon, two weeks ago and never engaged in serious deliberations with any other player.
