| Ultimate Commissioner | NHL and Olympics Who here thinks the NHL should not be in the olympics? I for one don't think they should be there. I never liked it and still don't. This is for non-professionals. If you play for a living, you shouldn't be at the Olympics...NBA included. I don't like the NHL shutting down for two weeks for this. I also don't like that players who get injured, screw their NHL teams. I think this needs to end. This is what the World Cup of Hockey is for. Off-season and all players in it can play instead of if their country makes the next round. One year Germany, was eliminated before the two week break and those NHL players didn't even get a chance to go over and help. |

| Outlaw | I agree completely. No olympic Hockey game will ever be like 1980 when a bunch of kids shocked the greatest team in the history of the game. I would much rather watch young college and Junior kids then a bunch of guys that have been around for years. |

| Ultimate Commissioner | Exactly...the 'Miracle on Ice' will never happen again. You think that a team like Japan, China, Italy or Belarus will ever win the Olympics will ever beat a team of professional hockey players. Not bloody likely. |

| Winner 6/8/08 PotD | Of course it's not likely. What do you think the Miracle on Ice was? The US team beat the Soviet team- of pro ice hockey players. |

| TO THE DEATH | Ive never liked the idea of pro athletes in the olympics. To me, it defies the intent of the Olympics. If you are a professional at your sport, then play pro. The Olympics are for amateur athletes. It's a stepping stone for many young athletes, not an achivement for professionals. Pros don't seem to take the Olympics as serious as amatuer athletes. For the true Olympians, the Olympics become thier life. They eat it sleep it, and live it every day. They put their lives on hold for it. That's dedication. A pro plays the sport in a league and gets paid for it. The olympics are not a priority for them, it's just another potential payday in endorsements. |
