Seriously, you can stay at you mid-major Conference USA powerhouse or go to one of the most historic college basketball programs even and get a boatload of cash, much more than he currently makes, thrown in his direction....your saying you would not want that job if you were Calipari??? He can get the players anywhere he goes, if he can get them in Memphis, he sure as hell can bring them to Kentucky.
I would not say that Calipari is off limits, I think he is very much in play here.

Bomb is right though, I honestly don't see Cal leaving. His recruiting class over the last 4 years has been simply amazing and the kids he's got coming next year are equally, if not more amazing. He literally has built a dynasty in Memphis, and has put them on the steady map of one of the best contenders in all of college basketball. I know that the C-USA blows, but Memphis' talent and skill level is one that rivals UNC, Duke and Kansas. They're really that good, and over the last several years have been a part of the names of teams picked to make a run for the title. That's not going anywhere, and honestly, as each year goes by, Memphis becomes more and more involved with greatness. There was once upon a time that when Memphis made a run at the sweet 16 I wondered how many years it would be before we came that close ever again. Now, it's simply expected. Cal is continuing to put Memphis on the map, and I think that he would like nothing more than to win a title, but I think he desperately wants to do it with Memphis. Think about it, not only will he have brought this team to the national level, but over his career, he brought them a national title. I think he wants to do that, not with just another great team, but with HIS great team, that HE built. | Quote:

Tradition goes a long way, just look at Alabama football.....Kentucky carries that type of revernce in the history of college basketball. The program may be down, but it is still one of the most prestigious job in the country.
In the end, you may be right, he may not go.....but to say there is no way he goes...well that is just wishful thinking IMO.
Personally, I'd love for them to go to a Kentucky guy and bring in Travis Ford.....but UK seems to like making big splashes so who knows. | |
