Donate | 49er RB Frank Gore Breaks Hand In Practice Frank Gore, the San Francisco 49ers Pro Bowl running back, broke a bone in his right hand Monday during the first padded practice of training camp and might not play in the preseason. Sounds like Gore will be back soon practicing in a cast. He is already projected to miss the first preseason game and may miss all preseason action as a result of this injury ESPN - 49ers running back Gore breaks bone in hand - NFL |

To me the issue is, once it is known...that simply will be a huge target for the defense. Gonna be real tough for Gore now. |

It will probably come off before the first regular season game, and he may wear a soft cast for protection. shouldn't affect his performance. He may get a few less carries in week 1, but that's about it. |

Donate | yeah, pushing around 250 lbs guys with a cast was much easier then carrying a ball with one, because you don't really use your hands for that. |

Ok, let me spell it out so a 12 year old can understand. Yes, you use your hands on the line, but with an RB they carry a football, the line doesn't. Also, when they carry the ball, they have their hand on the point and the long side of the ball is between their chest and their forearm. If you have a slippery cast on your forearm, the ball can come out easier. We're talking about Gore's dominant carrying arm. If this was typically his off arm, then the situation would be better. |

It has a grip to it so things dont slip when swetty. RR |

Join Date: Jul 2007 Location: Indiana | I didn't say he won't play. I said we'll see. The reason I said it is a cast on your carrying arm is way different than a cast on your off arm. Maybe they'll work Gore carrying with his left hand. 4 weeks is not a lot of time to get comfortable when you've spent your whole career carrying the ball in your right hand. This doesn't have anything to do with Gore being a sissy or unprofessional.
Look folks, at the end of the day it's different and Gore may or may not be able to adapt. As I said, we'll see. |
