Brett Favre MRI Results - Torn Bicep

The MRI results are in on the shoulder, and turns out, the problem wasn't in his shoulder.

Brett Favre has a torn bicep near the acromioclavicular joint and some calcification in the area, which can be taken care of via arthroscopic surgery, rather than any sort of major surgery.

Whether Favre plays or not next season is going to be up in the air for quite a while. The Jets told him to take as much time as needed, and a decision will likely not come until after a new head coach is named.

According to the report by Ed Werder of ESPN, it is also possible that Favre might be able to play next season without any surgery at all, though that hasn't been confirmed by a doctor.

This guy could be wheeled out of the grave in 100 years and still throw 2 TDs.

Reminds of reading this last week (note: its mostly speculative thought)

Quote:
FAVRE TO HAVE MRI ON MONDAY
Posted by Mike Florio on December 28, 2008, 10:01 p.m.

So quarterback Brett Favre’s shoulder has been bothering him for several weeks.

But he didn’t undergo an MRI exam of the joint.

And now that the 2008 season is over for the Jets, Favre reportedly will have an MRI.

Is it just us, or does that make absolutely no freaking sense?

Well, it actually does make sense. It’s further evidence, in our view, of the Jets’ bastardization of the injury-reporting rules. By never performing diagnostic testing on the shoulder, the Jets never were required to admit to themselves or to anyone else that Favre’s shoulder was injured.

Never mind the possibility that Favre might have done more damage to the joint by continuing to play without getting the thing checked out. It’s apparently far more important for the Jets to be able to justify the failure to disclose the injury than it is for the Jets to worry about, you know, Favre’s overall health and well-being.
If true, I wonder if it contributed to Mangini's firing.

Favre was commenting on a lack of strength, but that is all I remember. Unless there was something else out there, seems like they are expanding on a non-story, which wouldn't surprise me.

so does this let favre off the hook for the monster collapse at the end of the season? it was pretty clearly 100% his fault that the jets did not make the playoffs and are not a top threat to get to the super bowl right now.
