He's not going to score that many TDs again for at least a couple more seasons. Teams are going to put double coverage on him all next season and he's going to get shut down hard. He hasn't demonstrated the ability to get the TDs despite that, at least not yet.

In fantasy numbers Ward is a consistant producer. Superdave can correct me if im wrong but last I heard the Steelers want to hand more responsibility over to Big Ben and let him throw more often. Without Bettis there to give them the "guarenteed" TD in the red zone, I expect the Steelers to even out the pass to run ratio this year. It wont be fifty/ fifty but it will be alot closer to what has been in the past. And ward is the MAN in Steeler land.

Based on personnel moves this year and comments from Ken Whiznut I would expect the Steelers to operate a more balanced offense. Look for them to continue a trend established last year when they came out throwing early. I also expect the Steelers to take the air out of the ball when they get the lead as they always have. Pittsburgh averaged only 6 passes in the second half of games that they had the lead a halftime. If there is a trend here it is upWard. In their first year together Rothlistbugger and Ward had some growing pains and it showed in Wards TD numbers. Last year, Rothlistbutter and Ward began to click. Ward had 11 less catches but his per catch average, 14.1, was the highest since 2000 and he had almost three times as many TDs than in 2004. The Steelers drafted speed at wideout this year and will use that speed to spread the field and negate coverages designed to stop Ward. The Steelers have one of the better TE in the league in Heath Miller and on paper what could be the most productive rushing attacks in the League. I don't think teams will double Ward, I don't see how they can and not be burned by the rest of that potent offense. Ward should be right around his career averages of 1100 and 8-12 TDs. He doesn't miss games and is that teams leader. He will be a big part of that offense. Most won't see him as a 1 on fantasy teams but you will be hard pressed to find a better 2.

I took Djak for the simple reason that Hines Ward is getting long in tooth and has reached the peak of his career. Last years TD's is the Bone every dog gets once in his lifetime. For Hines Ward to be more than the average reciever I have seen over the years he would have to put together 2 more years of double diget TD's. but I dont see that happening. By the time players forget about the double diget TD's last year he will be retiring.
DJak looked to be taking the next step to being a top tier reciever last year til injury put a halt to his season. If he an get back on track this year I can see him in the top 20 recievers for quite a few years, that is "If" he can get back on track. Besides who does Hasselbeck(KICKMYSELF,KICKMYSELF,KICKMYSELF) have to throw to Jervacius,Warrick,Engram?

That bone he got, while a big one, wasn't the biggest of his career. And as for long in the tooth, Ward has played one more season than Djaxoff. Leave him on the table, I'll take him.

I still question this "consistency" factor and upWard pun SD tossed out there (pretty good one).

The last 3 years his receptions have been:
03 - 95 rec (15 % decline over crear high 112 in 02)
04 - 80 rec (16% decline)
05 - 69 rec (14% decline)
At that is 3 straight years in which his recptions have declined by 14% or more from the previous year. In 4 years, his receptions have declined 38%, and in the last 3 yrs they have declined 27%!!! Where is the consistency? Where is the upWard trend?? I see a trend and it's downWARD!

No let's look at the yards:
03 - 1163 yds (13% decline from carear year of 1329 in 02)
04 - 1004 yds (14% decline)
05 - 975 yds (3% decline)
Again, 2 yrs of double digit decline and another slight decline again last year. So again I ask, where is the consistency and where is the upWARD trend?? All I see is decline! 27% decline over 4 yrs, and 16% over 3 years.

So now let's look at the most inconsistent part of a WR's game, TD's:
03 - 10 (17% decline from carear high of 12 in 02))
04 - 4 (60% decline!!!)
05 - 11 (175% increase!!!)
Now where exactly in the consistency??? Like most WR's, TD's can fluctuate, and do Ward's. Add in his declining production in other areas, and another 11 TD season seems unlikely.

Overall, I can see how he is either consistent or steady. He has been a sinking ship for 3 years and his 11 TD's last year have created a fantasy smokescreen. Don't be fooled, he is not an elite WR any longer. And why wou;d they not double Ward??? A rookie WR or Wilson on the other side will nto stop the double and Miller while good, is not going to stop a double either IMO. Ward will be the focus of the passing game until they can prove they can beat people with someone else. You can have him SD........

04 and 05 are The "ben" years. New QB, learning on the fly, everybodies numbers go down. The best is yet to come. I friggen hope so cause I've hung my ass out here a lot and as much as I like it rough once in a while if the Steelers don't do very very well, I'm probably not gonna be able to sit for awhile.

Everyone's numbers go down as a young QB learns on the fly huh????
Chad Johnson:
03 - 90 rec
04 - 95 rec
05 - 97 rec

03 - 1355 yds
04 - 1274 yds
05 - 1432 yds

03 - 10 TD's
04 - 9 TD's
05 - 9 TD's

04 & 05 were the "Carson" years as we had a young QB learning on the fly, and he did just fine. Now that is consistency my friend!!!

There are exceptions. Marv Lewis being a new head coach obviously played to his strengths. The Steelers did the same while bringing Ben along, played to their strenths, ball control. Not bad results either. 15-1 his first year and the Superbowl Throphy his second. It's the encore. Ward is gonna be the guy this year. Thats their strength now. I really do see Hines having, maybe not a career year, but one very much in line with his career averages. Y'all remember this, if and when we have an SO league draft. I see a one a you mofos even begin to type his name in, why I'll...I dunno, but I'll think a sumpthin.

Deal. But I warn you, if you pick Chambers I'm gonna take Ward just to force a trade.

Heinz - anticipate consistency
Jaxson - The system and the other suck-ass WR's say aside from the drops a great upside and the potential to be wacky great.

Hmmmm. It all depens on who my first WR is. If I need to overcompensate, then Ive got to go with Jaxson. If I need a sure, solid number two WR, then I'll go with Heinz

The steelers are the better team. Hines Ward has better numbers. Im going with Ward. I cant pull up any more numbers then people already did... but Ward is the better player.

Atta boy Greg, I knew I could count on you. You know we're talkin' football here, right? Just checking. didn't want you confusing Michael Pak, a Korean National, that played for the Pens and Hines.
