The staff at The Sports Outlaw is looking for a few people to help with the management and promotion of our growing forums. The activity at this site continues to grow rapidly on a daily basis and the duties within the operation of the website require us to put the moderation and promotion of the forums activity in the hands of a few of the dedicated members we have. Those of you who have been active at our site for a while have probably noticed that our forums are pretty laid back in regards to moderation, and it is out intention to keep it that way. We like people to be able to speak their minds without the fear of a moderator editing, deleting, or censoring their posts constantly. There does come a time, however, that it is necessary.
What we want from a moderator is someone who can allow the discussion to remain fairly unmoderated, while at the same time, be able to step in when needed in an unbiased nature. More importantly, a moderator at this stage of our site development would be asked to spend most of their moderating time promoting discussion in there respective forum. That means keeping topics alive, and creating new topics of discussion on a regular basis.
Available positions:
- Super Moderator - Looking for one person at this time that will have moderator priveledges throughout the entire site. You would be asked to do the following.....
- Assist all Moderators in day to day decisions as needed. If a moderator is unsure of what to do in a situation, they can come to you for help.
- Control Spam within the entire forums. Remove posts that show up by new members posting soley for the promotion of their website.
- Promote discussions within the forums, especially those posts made by new members of the site. People are often uncomfortable at a new community, we want them to know they are welcome and to have an understanding of how we operate.
- You will be the link between the administrators of this website and the moderators. We will depend on you do keep us informed of various things that go on among members and moderators.
- Football Forums Moderator(s)
- Promote activity within the football forums within this website.(Create new topics, be active in current topics)
- moderate discussions when necessary. The need to step into a discussion should be very rare as we let people speak their mind. People will cross the lines on occasion, however, and you need to be able to handle it accordingly. Editing a post in these extreme situations, and a PM to the offender is the best way to handle it. Public corrections usually just make things worse.
- Control Spam within the football forums. remove/edit spam posts when they show up.
