Donate | well I feel fortunate to have drafted SJax and Gore this year in my second Dynasty league.
I traded out of the 1.01 spot to take Jackson at 1.05 (I was hoping the guy at 1.04 would take Portis, wich he did)
I took Gore with my 5th pick (5.10) and at the time had no idea he would be this huge, this early.
Still not enugh to take down Taz ...........yet. |

It is the same situation as trading the rights to Reggie Bush in dynasty leagues this year. You can always find someone who "really" wants that player and giving him up for a trade would have most likely been in your favor if you worked it properly. Even though, had you mentioned doing it, you would have been criticized to no end. I know from personal experience |

I also have Bush...so I have some youth too. |

SA's not in the discussion due to injury, obviously, but avoiding the top 3 guys because they carry too much baggage might not be the best excuse. Now, if you can get the value in a trade down to make it up, then it's a good move, but realize that a full time back getting 300+ touches a year now is more the rule than the exception (not counting RBBC's). There are no fewer than 13 backs right now setting up for 300+ touches, most in the rushing dept. It's no longer a durability concern, ALL these backs are getting heavier workloads, now yes, LJ has the most carries by FAR to this point, and I agree that will eventually shorten his career, but playing big back ball in fantasy football today is comparable to a bull rider..........you grab the biggest, fastest, meanest bull you can and hold on for your 8 seconds, then trade up for a bigger, faster, meaner model before it tires out........of the big 3, SA or LT will be more likely to wear down before LJ.........SA's getting on in RB years and LT has had the kinda workload LJ has now for the past 5 years........of the three, you can't argue LT for the TD's, but if i'm building a team future wise, I'd rather have LJ, I'll probably get slightly more mileage out of him...........
LOL, that being said...........I've got another very interesting name to throw out there in top 10 discussions.......
1. LT
2. LJ
3. SJax
4. SA
5. Portis
6. Addai
7. Rudi 8. C. Taylor
9. Gore
10. James |

To add, my deal with avoiding Larry Johnson came last year because people were predicting 5,000 touchdowns for him it seemed and his stock was extremely high. I am a guy that likes to trade anyway, and I have no problem with trading a top pick if I can get good value in return.
Back to Larry Johnson and LaDainian Tomlinson for second, as I am mainly in dynasty leagues.
The Chiefs have an aging offensive line, aging quarterback, and an aging tight end.
The Chargers are filled with youth. They have raped the New York Giants and the Atlanta Falcons over the past 5 years, allowing these two teams to get the prize quarterback they wanted. In return that got better players, plus an assload of draft picks. Trading down to get Tomlinson instead of Vick brought them Tomlinson and Drew Brees, and then some. Trading the rights to Eli Manning brought them Rivers and some nice picks.
In a nutshell, Tomlinson is in a better long term situation. |

The contract could also be a strike against him, not sure how he will play now that he has his contract.
Gore will no doubt be a risky first round pick, IMO. |

1. LT
2. SJax
3. LJ
4. Gore
5. Portis |
