Donate | Fred Taylor Arrested Fred Taylor arrested Saturday
Fred Taylor, RB JAC
News: The Miami Herald reports that Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was arrested in Miami Beach and charged with disorderly conduct. Taylor was not jailed, instead released on his own recognizance with a promise to appear in court. Taylor is expected to start for Jacksonville again this season and be part of a potent 1-2 rushing tandem with Maurice Jones-Drew.
Analysis: Taylor will be subject to a suspension if he violated the NFL's personal conduct policy. If you own him, you might be without him for a week or two this season. He remains a solid No. 3 Fantasy RB in drafts and is worth starting as a No. 3 RB Week 1 at Tennessee. When we learn more about Taylor's situation, we'll bring it to you Good news for MJD owners if he gets a suspension |

From Taylor's agent: Quote: | |
“It’s nothing more than a ticket, just like if you were pulled over for speeding or pulled over with a problem with your license and they give you a date and a time and a document to appear,” Swickle said. “He was never formally arrested, never booked, didn’t post a bond and he has not been charged with anything. We’re pretty confident obviously that he won’t be charged with anything.I can tell you, there is no way he could’ve been arrested because he never would have been given a notice to appear.”

Donate | For those of you who say Taylor wasn't arrested here are the details of what happened:
Fred Taylor, RB JAC
News: Jaguars RB Fred Taylor was ordered out of his car at gunpoint, patted down and handcuffed while a K-9 unit searched his vehicle for drugs outside a Miami Beach nightclub over the weekend, according to a police report released Tuesday. Taylor yelled at officers repeatedly and was arrested and charged with disorderly conduct, a misdemeanor. Taylor insisted Monday he wasn't actually arrested; he said he was just issued a citation. "At this point, I just want to let go of it and take the high road, whether I'm right or wrong. At the end of the day, I'm going to feel more right than wrong," Taylor said Monday, suggesting he was provoked by officers. "Right now, I'm humbled by it. I'll continue to move forward and do whatever I've got to do to let this blow over." |

I do not know what level of offense disorderly conduct is in Florida, but in Texas, it is a class c misdemeanor and the equivalant of a traffic citation as both are class c misdemeanors. And just like traffic offenses, an officer can make an arrest for a class c misdemeanor and incarcerate you in a municipal or county detention center. Basically, he was arrested but he wasn't booked on the charge, just like a traffic ticket.
Here, my first question is why did the officers order him out at gunpoint? Did he do anything? It never indicates why he was stopped to begin with. The police obviously didn't find anything in his vehicle, and he obviously wasn't intoxicated, otherwise he would have been charged. My next question is, what did he yell at the police? was it obscene or offensive? Did it cause a breach of the peace? Sorry, this is the cop coming out in me.
I would probably look for the citation to be dismissed unless there is a lot of information being left out here. |

I dont really give a damn what he thinks about being searched for drugs or illegal weapons based on a citizen report. Most crime/arrests come from....citizen reports.
What I do have a problem with is the whole "the black man got loud so we arrested him" thing. I remember Hollywood and I doing that one time, to a white crackhead, because he said he was going to kill me and my family for arresting his whore with their meth. Even then we cut the guy a break from the felony we could have filed.
They (and we) are law enforcement officers. People want to kill or maim us and say terrible things on a daily basis. Its part of the job. Grow up and ignore it like most of the rest of us. Taylor's status as an NFL player shouldnt matter on either side of the issue. |
