The San Francisco 49ers appreciate a good thing when they see it. That good thing is their young Pro Bowl running back Frank Gore.
FOXSports.com has learned that the Niners have agreed to terms on a new five-year deal with their starting running back. Terms of the deal were not available, but the Niners didn't have to lock up the youngster, as he still had time left on his rookie deal.Now entering his third year, Gore rushed for an impressive 1,695 yards with eight touchdowns with 5.4 yards per carry last season. He overcame fumble problems earlier in the year to rebound with consistency. He's also become a favorite of head coach Mike Nolan.
In addition to his rushing totals, he added 61 receptions in 2006.

Glad they got this done. Didn't think it would happen. Looks like the organization is starting to turn things around.

I hope now he stays healthy, and doesn't loaf now he has a new fat contract.

Money didn't sound too bad to me, think I head mid 20's over 4 for the extension? Can anyone confirm? I think that is a fair compromise. Early rumors had him demanding top RB money, this would be more in the lines of Rudi and Jordan's contracts from 2 yrs ago.
