“I wouldn’t say ‘the guy,’ but I am definitely a guy that will, if I become a Texan, be part of the mix, because I’ve been watching the Texans since the inception of the whole organization, and being a football fan—not just a player, but for a fan—I know with David (Carr) being the quarterback, he has done his best. He has gone out there and thrown the ball, and as a running back, when you’re watching SportsCenter and it says ‘David Carr has been sacked 100 times in a season’ or some crazy number, I’d have a heart attack. I don’t care if it’s (Green Bay QB) Brett (Favre) or a seventh-round draft pick quarterback in the backfield, it it’s up to me, my quarterback is not getting touched. As a running back, you take it personal. I just feel like now that I have the opportunity where I got to come down here and visit, and if I become a Texan, that’s going to be one of my priorities outside of running the ball and scoring points and making yards, it’s to protect David or whoever is back there throwing the ball. I’ll put it like this: I’m going to be his Kevlar back there stopping the blitz.”
| | The Texans running back blitz pickup was atrocious last year with the rookie players. It is what limited their time.
He can catch out of the backfield. It is something the Texans need.
The contract is frontloaded. So it can be chucked later without much dead money. Maybe he can make do until the Texans get more pieces in place.
Lots of miles, but with Lundy, Dayne, Williams (Davis), Taylor, geez, beggars can't be choosers.
Whispers say Davis' knee ain't gonna be happening. |

Donate | Ahman Green is a running back who is starting to break down. He broke out in 2003 in a big way, but he struggled with "small" injuries in 2004, missed most of 2005, and was injured most of the season last year.
I like the guy, but at age 30, and given the signs that he is breaking down, I just can't see this as a positive signing for the Texans. Then again, maybe they are just looking for one good year from him to protect the backfield while they are grooming a new quarterback in it. |

Donate | Interesting....Not the guy I would go and get, and definately not at that price of # of years. Then again, if you look at the rb FA market...it isn't very deep. So getting a vet with superbowl experience to work with the young rbs they have isn't a bad thing. I mean you have Green or Henry...really....both have injury issues...so... |

If anything else, I think this basically ensures that GB will be selecting Marshawn Lynch in the draft if he's there. |

Donate | Green's health history: had one leg injury two years ago - other than that, his track record has been pretty durable. 16 games, 14 games, 16 games, 16 games, 14 games, 16 games, 15 games, 5 years, and 14 games.
Kubiak is going to split carries because that is what he does.
BTW, in a GMpresser it was announced that Domanick Williams/Davis is going to need more surgery. |

Donate | The amount of games he has played doesn't tell the story. The past 3 years, he has been banged up quite often. It pretty much goes hand in hand with a running back approaching the age of 30.
only missed two games last season, but spent almost every week on the injury report.
If they can get one productive year out of him, that will be great, but I think that is a best case scenario. |
