Question If you could draft all over again, what would you do differently?

Its the mid-point of the fantasy football season and most folks are seeing the writing on the wall for their respective teams by now. What seemed like a good idea in August can sometimes prove to be a dumb idea looking back in October.

I, through all my greatness and precognitive abilities, have a few. Misery loves company so share your August hopes and explain your logic. It is important to include what kind of league you're in when you cry into your beer in this thread.

I'll go first and try not to spit out your drink laughing.

5 Player Keeper league with standard scoring:

Selvin Young will be the next stud for the Broncos. Pittman was brought in to be what he does best at this point in his career; play third down. But Young was potent last season catching the ball out of the backfield so Pittman's chance of an impact will be minimal. Andre Hall is a special teamer who poses no threat of taking carries away. Ryan Torrain may be a sleeper candidate but only if Young is unable to reproduce last season's golden 5 ypc average. He's likely going to be primary backup and will spell the Broncos in their continued run-first offense. So I'm going to make a trade to get my hands on the guy who I think can carry the load for my team this season and into the future.

I'll keep Caddy Williams and trade away Ronnie Brown. I think he will get back on the field faster. Besides the Dolphins are going nowhere and have complete crap lining up next to him. He might be slow in the start but he at least doesn't have Ricky Williams to split time with and Earnest Graham is a role player. Warrick Dunn won't see the field unless it is third down.

You think you've got something better?

First thing, I would probably drop all leagues that drafted early. I'm tired of getting burned by injuries that come early in pre-season.

My biggest regret so far has been Chad Ocho Cinco Uno Numbnuts Johnson. I didn't worry about the off-season stuff, which I still think didn't matter, and drafted him in multiple leagues. he immediately gets hurt, and as we should have expected, the freaking Bengals have simply imploded.

My other miscue, at least early in the season, was thinking Jamal Lewis would be good this year. Once again, had I watched this guy in the preseason, you can bet I wouldn't have drafted him.

I don't know if I'd really do that much differently...

Except now I'd REALLY make fun of people drafting Brady in the first round.

Kevin Smith in the 4th is my only regret.

I made up for it with Chris Johnson in the 5th.

Stop playing in re-draft leagues.

This will be my motto going fourth in Football and Especially Baseball. You do so much work just to throw it away and start over.

For the most part I agree here. I do a redraft or two each year, but keeper and dynasty are far superior formats for what I want to do.

I have played in so many leagues the draft doesnt excite me like it used to for a redraft league. It takes a lot more to plan for the future then just for 1 season.

This year I gave up on all free leagues except for 2 here on SO. Next year I will cut down on all redraft leagues.

For me my main Fantasy sport is Baseball so plannning for drafts while you are making your playoff run is not easy.

I get it

I'm in 11 leagues, some dynasty, some keeper, some redraft. Some are IDP, some PPR, some standard scoring.

Given the time each draft occured, I wouldn't do anything differently. You can't predict a player, like Brady going down, or a guy like say Randy Moss suckling his pet guinea pig.....

You do the best you can with the info available, draft #2 and 3s at positions you believe will get the shots at starter, and the rest is all a crap shoot. If you aren't watching the WW every godarned week, starting Week 1, you are doing your leaguemates and mostly your team a disfavor.

Get TF over it
