Matt Forte and the Bears run game So it's pretty obvious at this point that the Bears won't be relying on Cedric Benson this year. It's also painfully obvious that Walter Payton and Gale Sayers aren't walkin through that door any time soon. Instead, the Bears are left with little-known RB Matt Forte out of Tulane along with "veterans" Garrett Wolfe and "the other" Adrian Peterson. So what are you doing with Bears RBs this season? Matt Forte looks to be the starter, for now at least. How high of a draft pick are you willing to spend on him? How high do you think he will go by draft day in mid August? And if rookie RBs from small schools are not your Forte, then will you draft Wolfe or Peterson later on with high hopes?

I've found myself grabbing Peterson in the 15th round with very little hope. At best he gets the start for the first few games of the season, his value shoots up, and he can be packaged in a stellar trade deal.

I've got not faith in the Bears offense doing anything this year, especially without a solid veteran running back in the backfield. The box is going to be stacked due to no respect for the passing game. Chicago is going to have to pass the ball. When this happens, you are suddenly depending on a rookie running back to pass protect. Chicago is putting a ton of pressure on their rookie to get this done, considering rookies tend to struggle with assignments like this. It has to default to Forte though because there is no way Chicago can rely on Adrian Peterson or Garrett Wolfe in pass protection. The results are very likely increased turnovers (who thought that would be possible in Chicago), and little offensive production. Because Forte is the expected starter, he will be drafted rather early. I think that draft pick is a mistake. I like Wolfe as a late draft pick, because with the potential of many 3rd and longs, and his speed, there could be a potential of some big plays. And if Forte struggles, I think Wolfe stands the best chance at increased playing time. All that said, I still can't see the Bears not bringing in a free agent before the season starts.
