Donate | Ram's Wild Ass Predictions - RB Sup fellow truth addicts! I feel like making an ass of myself and decided to tell you all how it will be in 08....in June.
Confidence like this comes from years of kicking ass and chewing bubblegum in fantasy football leagues since 2000. I'm not listing the obvious guys. Nah, too easy for someone of my intellect. This little feature at SO is for the value hunters, the blue light specials to pick up for your draft. So grab a coffee and get ready for your truth fix: RB: Michael Turner - While the first player I looked at doesn't exactly fly in the face of conventional wisdom like my previous commentary on QB's, his ADP as the 35th selection on average of a 12 team mock is silly. Fools are taking mutts like Maroney, McGahee, Ernest Graham, and Ronnie Brown before going with Turner the Burner. Seriously? This is not Lamont Jordan folks, this is a guy that showed up LT2 in relief duty last season. And even if he was Lamont Jordan that fat tub of goo tore it up his first year in Oakland. Turner is going into a system that will use his tremendous skills and has decent depth backing him up to keep his carries manageable. So why are folks passing up on this guy? Crappy qb's? I'll concede that point only to bring up the fact that the carousel of crap that lined up last season at qb still allowed for serviceable numbers from Dunn and Norwood. Even if the rookie starts (which I highly doubt) make no mistake this will be a run-first offense. Turner will be a steal at the 2nd and 3rd rounds. Rudi Johnson - Dropping even further down the draft you see Rudi Johnson being selected behind the aforementioned mutts and greatness like Lenwhale White, MJD & Fred Taylor. Soooo peeps are going with two guys who split carries on an offense vowing to spread the field this year and a guy who is so kickass his team spent a 1st rounder on a runningback. Rrrrrrrrright. Rudi's injury last year will drop him well below guys he will easily outperform in 08. RBBC? Not likely as both the leads to share carries also have a preferred membership in the training room. It was an area most outsiders thought would be addressed on draft day. There is a reason the Bengals didn't spend a high pick on a runningback instead going all out to replace a 3rd wr slot. Marv knows something we don't know. Rudi is going to come back in a big way. Spend a (WOW) 4th rounder on him after you pick up Turner and dominate next season. While these guys get some love and hype they are true Blue Light Special draft material that will turn to gold for you in 2008. I am The Ram and I approve this message. |

Personally, his ADP is actually higher than were I would take him at, and given how people will always reach for a running back earlier than the projeceted ADP value, that takes me out of the running for this guy for 2008.
As for Rudi, I think he clearly rebounds from last season, but at the same time, I think we have seen his best days. It is looking more and more like Chris Perry may finally be a regular season contributor, which would cut into Rudi's potential numbers. |

Turner just went from "A New Hope" in San Diego to "The Empire Strikes Back" in Atlanta. The sun was shining and LT(Luke), Rivers(Han Solo), and Gates(Chewy), were blowing up the dreaded Death Star. Now he's in Atlanta. Nothing will be going right. There will be 8 storm troopers in the box because of the lack of passing game. He'll be doing his training with Yoda while trying to be the lone Jedi offensive star on the team. I foresee him losing his hand while discovering a terrible secret about Atlanta....they're awful!! Oh yeah, and Matt Ryan gets frozen in carbonite. |

Roddy White is nothing to look shamefully upon. He's a pretty good WR, and Matt Ryan or whomever is under center will be as good or just a tad better than the junk under center last year. |

They don't even have Crumpler anymore. This probably hurts their run blocking as well.
Why would whoever is under center be better this year? Nothing has really changed. If it's Redman, what indications do we have that he will improve? If it's Ryan, which some people say it won't be, there's no proof he will be solid either. This whole situation scares me. I'm staying away. |

When you ask for "Wild Ass" let's at least get there! |

Damn, that is wild ass. I tried to stay away from speculating and stuck to starters. If I were to speculate I would put a bunch of money on runningbacks like Selvin Young (maybe Ryan Torrain), Fred Jackson, and Ryan Thomas to take a sizable role in their team's offense. |

I guarantee we all will be throwing a few back after the draft. I really like him and you gotta know the the Duece is gonna have to really fight to get back. He can do it, but it is asking an awful lot. |

Cant be worse. | | I would put Redmon at the top of the pile of crap. He showed me he was able to manage the game ala Dilfer which will be what Turner owners should hope for this season. Harrington is a distant second. All the tools but being a Lion for so long has messed him up in the bean. Ryan might be good next year but he'd be the beginning of the end for Turner owners if he's thrown to the wolves this season. |
