I like the "scatback" sarcasm

However, I think a mistake is being made in thinking this guy is simply a backup running back.

Would I draft him as a starter this year? No. I still think he is the #2 rookie running back for dynasty leagues this year though, and a good option as a #3 or #4 running back in redraft leagues. I see a whole lot more sleeper potential in this guy than any other running back you are gonna draft in this area.

i really would be interested to see what kind of coverage this guy is getting elsewhere. hes so overhyped here that in any SO draft, he's being taken in the 7th round and that is hurting any "sleeper" sort of status in a redraft league. i have to wonder how much of that is just local to SO.

Free VB's!! I'll take it! Sarge is keeping track of the side bets, I'll be sure he notes this one.

$40,000 vb's
ROY -
DD - Chris Johnson
Miller - DMac

In fact, if anyone else wants to toss in 40k and pick another player not taken, I'm sure DD won't mind others being in, I sure don't.

I think some are mistaking high optimism for pure blind stupidity.

I don't see C.Johnson as....say McFadden. Then again, I don't see McFadden as the next AP either.

No I see C.Johnson as the next MJD. And quite honestly, I see him more successful than MJD. But fact is they are both comparable. So now I ask Da Bomb, if you are comfortable taking MJD early in a draft...why not C.Johnson?

I'm warming up to Johnson in ppr leagues, but in non ppr leagues I don't see him having a big impact this season. He will do OK, but nothing to write home about in standard leagues.

do you see him scoring consistent double digit TDs like MJD? cuz i dont think he has the body type or running style to come even close to that. and that is the biggest reason for MJD's success as a fantasy player.

also i wouldnt personally take MJD very early in a draft this year. as long as taylor's around (and who knows after that), MJD is too inconsistent for me to rely heavily on him. i could certainly live with him as a usable RB2, but not where hes being taken.

as for chris, i can start buying into his longer term value if he gets that receiving game going and what not, but that seems like something thats going to take longer to work into the system... unlike a prototypical back who just has to get handed the ball and follow blockers.

i guess i would return the question. are you willing to take and rely on reggie bush week by week in a non-ppr league? i certainly am not until i see differently.

also, chris johnson really needs a nickname. and please, not CJ3.

Chris Johnson has gotten the start tonight in preseason game #3. Slow start on the first drive, but looking good since then.

44 yards of offense in the first quarter, 17 yard punt return. Not bad.

what are you looking at? I see just over 3 yds a carry....not exactly a stellar performance.

After the first failing drive, Johnson was running well for the rest of the 1st quarter.

2nd quarter, the entire offense tanked.

Also, gotta remember this is Fisher we are talking about. All he is doing so far with Chris Johnson is concentrating on the runs that will test him the most in the NFL. Same goes for the rest of the offense.

Overall, not a bad performance, considering Vince Young once again looked bad. Hope he snaps out of this.

I am going to draft this guy with first pick in the 8th round tomorrow... assuming he hasn't been taken already. The hype on this guy is really getting crazy right now.

I found an interesting piece on him too -

Any new thoughts on this cat? Seems in this off season a lot of folks here were either all about him or thinking he was all hype.
