I keep hearing how terrible Gore did last seaso, being drafted in the 1st round. It wasn't great, but it wasn't as bad as drafting LJ, SA, SJax, Parker, Brown, Bush, Maroney, or Rudi in the first round last year. Hell, Gore ended up 9th overall among Rb's, and they all did much worse.

If ya want to play the guessing game then SJax is much more apt to be injured in my estimation. He was a gimp last year and Gore played through it!

Pass on both of the bums, trade your entire draft for 1.01, 2.12 and 5.12

Get yourself LT, Fitz, and a QB..then pick the rest of your team up off waivers..and still win at least 7 games.

Gore works hard if nothing else

Hey all, great posts! It's nice to read thoughts from people who know football.
Re, Frank Gore: personally I think Frank Gore is a top back (top 5, even). Unfortunately, SF is not the place to break into the league (now, at least). Mike Martz will help Gore a lot, iF he can get anyone to respect the passing game a little bit. Gore has definitely had injuries, but to his credit, has also bounced back from most/all of them. I saw a great 20-30 minute focus interview on him and his injuries have made him very humble, appreciative, and such a hard worker.
As far as fantasy owners are concerned, the biggest problem in his value is the fact that the NFL has reached this awful group think that only bigger backs can score inside the 10-yard line and gore will have 40 yards on a drive and no TD to give you the big pay day. Hopefully Martz will change that (see Marshall Faulk). I am definitely not ready to crown Gore as Faulk or LT, but what makes/made them sure fantasy Kings (even a healthy Larry Johnson on an off-year, is that they don't come out in the Red zone. (I know this can very, but my league is heavily TD-friendly). I honestly believe that (TD disparity) is why Tiki Barber (and even Barry Sanders) retired. See also, why Willie Parker is now a SECOND ROUND fantasy back in spite of leading the league in rushing. You get beat up all the way don the field, and you don't even get the glory of getting in the end zone. Just a thought, but I believe it has to be on their mind. I mean, if a guy is your best, most creative successful runner, with the best vision, on 80% of the field, he is still all that inside the 10. Anyway, I am just one man who loves the game.
Don't get me started on Shanahan's RB debacles - fantasy wise).

I'm glad I don't own Gore, and in fact, I'd be hard pressed to put together a package deal to acquire him. I don't really consider him 1st round worthy even though he's a starter. But high second with something a little more to pad the deal is more accurate. But even then, do you sacrifice some depth on your squad for him? Maybe, if you don't have quality depth at RB and need a RB2 or RB3. RB3 would be ideal but I doubt the current owner will rate him that low.

To me, he is in the same category as Thomas Jones if age isn't a consideration.

Wow. I'm as high on Thomas Jones as anybody and this still sounds ridiculous. To say he's not a first rounder isn't that big of a deal but to put him and T Jones in the same category is just ridiculous. Are you telling me that if you were a Gore owner right now and someone offered you Thomas Jones straight up for him that you would take the deal?

Nope...wouldn't do it..in fact I'd love to avoid the headache of both. I'm probably more apt to target Westbrook, Lynch, Grant or one of those types before going for a high risk player like Gore. Overvalued in my opinion...that's all I'm sayin. If he comes out strong, stays healthy and the 49ers do well...he could help win you a championship...if not...I'd struggle to have to play him week to week. I hate those players.

You make a good point. The rap sheet clearly shows this guys version of healthy would make most of us call in sick to work.

Ok, I feel ya. I just thought you were saying that Jones and Gore were the same caliber of player. I can't fault you for taking Mcgahee or Lynch or Grant over Gore though. That's just personal preference.
