Collins has never had a Randy Moss caliber WR to throw the ball to, and the rest of his receiving corps will look much better with Moss in town if Randy Moss comes in with a desire to help the team.

The movement of a receiver of this caliber has to definately make a big shakeup among QB rankings. Is Kerry Collins in your top 5 or 10 fantasy rankings now? If not, why?

I think just as important that he has Porter and Moss is that now they have Lamont Jordan to legitimize the running game. When Collins is at his best, is when the running game is clicking, and he can do play action passing. I could see him as top 15 maybe top 10. My issue is Norv's offensive mind prefers to run not pass.

1. Peyton
2. McNabb
3. Culpepper
4. Collins
5. Vick

Collins definitely rockets up the boards. He put up some great games last year when they had mediocre backs and decent wideouts. Now they have a bruising back in Jordan and a huge playmaker in Moss. That'll open up the offense immensely and can only make Collins better. Moss will make Porter twice as good, Curry is coming into his own, and that OLine will only get more cohesive. And with their horrible D, the offense will have to be wide open to keep them in games.

Are you guys serious? You're talking about Kerry Collins! I'm going with Phicinfan in saying that he may be in the upper half of the league but to even think top 5 is crazy!

I saw Vick mentioned on a top 5 list and so I just had to make sure we're talking fantasy here. Vick may be a difference maker on the field but he sure isn't in any fantasy leagues.

Why is that crazy? Look at the weapons he has. He is a very good QB when he has a team around him.

I suspect others will draft him if his stock remains that high before I would feel comfortabel pulling the trigger on him. I see him making a jump up but only in the 10 - 15.

By the quality around them argument then:
Warner should also be in the same area w/ Boldin and Fitz
Boller w/ Mason and Heap
Loman w/ Moulds and Evans (equal jump will still have him ranked lower due to never playing)
Grossman with Muhammed... and well Muhammed
Harrington w/ Rogers and Williams (yaa, but how often did they play together last year?)
Griese w/ Galloway and 2nd year man Clayton

It sounds good but not everyone is going to be able to make the jump. Not being a Porter fan but liking the Raiders somewhat I feel that team could still struggle unless Jordan proves to be a bigger acquisition than Moss.

I would put him somehwere around the 8-10 spot on my list. I need him to prove he can do it before he jumps to the top 5 spots.

Some Kerry Collins Math:

92.7 rating, 26/45 57.8% for 339 yds and 4 TDs with 2 picks against Denver in week 12.
116.2 rating, 27/41 65.9% for 343 yds and 3 TDs with 0 picks against KC in week 13.
119.5 rating, 21/37 56.8% for 371 yds and 5 TDs with 1 pick against Tennesse in week 15.

1 of these weeks he played against a top 10 defense in the league....and did so in the snow.

These look like numbers I would want from a #4 rated fantasy QB. And all that without a capable RB or the thug-of-studs WR. Only room for improvement.

And I amend the #5 on my top 5 QBs...the 5th choice could be Favre, Bulger, Green, or Vick. All are worthy candidates. And Vick had a growing year in a west coast offense last year. He'll turn it around.

Collins never had the guts to be a great Q.B. He has always been O.K. His early days w/ Carolina were promising until his bout with alcohol. N.Y. didn't have the weapons or the coaching staff. Maybe this year he will shine. I hope he does good, he has the long arm but only time will tell. I would draft him as a backup. Rating in the top 15 at best.

To counter the Kerry Collins math, here is some Drew Brees math:
Week 4 vs. Tennessee-- 16/20 206 yds. 3 TD 0 INT
Week 8 vs. Collins and Oakland-- 22/25 281 yds. 5 TD 0 INT
Week 9 vs. New Orleans-- 22/36 257 yds. 4 TD 0 INT
Week 12 vs. Kansas City-- 28/37 378 yds. 2 TD 0 INT

Now, I don't profess Brees to be a top 5 fantasy QB but those stats sure look like he is. What about Collins' week 17? I just don't think even the most productive WR in the game can take Collins into the top 5. Sorry.

First those numbers for Brees are also against some of the worst defenses in the NFL. Second in week 17 the weather was awful for that game not to mention receivers dropping passes. Finally if you dont think the players around you make you better then you really dont know football.
