i actually really like this signing for the raiders. i think kiffin is a great prospect, and while its a big jump for kiffin, i am excited to see what he can do with some of the offensive talent pieces already assembled there. i hope they actually give him the 5 years in his contract to play it out, and i believe he can put the raiders back on the map within a few years if so. very nice move by the raiders to get a guy in the area that should spark fans' interest and give the team a fresh start. surprisingly very nice.

What offensive pieces do they really have in place though?

Will the coaching change possibly create a situation where Randy Moss and Jerry Porter stay in town?

I am with Da Bomb on this one, with the Raiders in this state they might as well give a newbie a shot at developing into a decent coach. But it is not an easy spot to go into at this point. The Steelers just hired the youngest head coach ever but now the Raiders selected someone even younger to run the team. It will be interesting to see what kind of coaching staff he will be able to put together to work with him.

If he is "a chip off the old block", I like the choice. This kid should hire his dad, Monte, to help him out. I thought their defense was fairly good, but Dfrank thinks they are over rated. If Lane knows offense like Monte knows defense, we will see improvement soon if the O-line can get close to respectability.

Picking his dad up from the Bucs would be a nice move.
