Post Reggie Bush Fined $5,000 For Waving Finger At Urlacher

A week after Reggie Bush wagged his finger at Brian Urlacher, the NFL wagged back.

The league fined the New Orleans Saints running back $5,000 for taunting Urlacher at the end of his 88-yard touchdown reception in the NFC Championship Game on Jan. 21, ESPN's Chris Mortensen reported.

Bush wagged his finger at the trailing Urlacher shortly before crossing the goal line with a somersault jump.

Bush was not penalized by officials on the play and apologized to head coach Sean Payton immediately after the incident.

The Bears outscored the Saints 23-0 after the incident and won the game 39-14 to advance to the Super Bowl against the Indianapolis Colts on Feb. 4.

That makes two fines in his first NFL season. Funny thing about this fine is that it was clearly not needed. Bush did just exactly what Urlacher and the Bears defense needed him to do, fire them up.

I am sure the $5,000 hurts alot less that realizing you shouldn't have instigated one of the best linebackers in the NFL.

this is a bullshit call by the nfl.

let the boys play and have their fun. everyone celebrates.

my girlfriends step sister gives me more hell playing madden 07 than just wagging a finger.

Not sure how it is BS. This was clearly a classless move by Reggie Bush. Taunts like this are what leads to cheapshots later in games, as well as the unneeded fights that breakout.

Got no prob with it, it's only 5k, only thing I question is consistency on it.....didn't hear any of the Pats get fined after taunting the Chargers after the game a week earlier.

The Patriots rarely get in trouble for anything. I think it's the "Tom Brady Rule" or something.

I recall a LB for Cleveland who took his helmet off on the field when he thought the game was over, but was hit with a penalty and the opposing team kicked a Game Winning FG. Had that happened after the play the game would of been over and no penalty. Could be the NE incident was after the game? I am not sure of the rules, though

Personally I don't think what Bush did was a big deal. Players taunt one another all the time, the NFL was right to fine him, but ask Chad Johnson how much of a difference that will make. Besides, Urlacher and the Bears got him back in the end.

If he got caught on TV then yeah...you gotta fine him. If not, I think the NFL should just let those things go. They bring more attention to it by all the coverage of the fine then if they let it go.
