| who me? Admin | Not sure why you are disagreeing with me. If you don't remember the trade rumors last year, you weren't paying very close attention. They were all over the place last year. |

Seriously, I want the running back that gives the Dallas Cowboys the best chance to win. From watching all the games, reading practice reports, and the evaluations from the writers who work directly with the Cowboys (not the rumor mill newspaper/ESPN idiots)

| Im a Dallas fan honest!!! | I gotta say Ive been in disagreement with Mike on this from the start and like Barber better then Jones. I also believe that they need to bring someone in to rest Barber but he is more then capable of being the premier back. As far as the crucial TD he couldnt get, thats a bit of a weak arguement, I could name a couple games where he pulled it together for Dallas. |

| Who Me? Admin | I personally think they need to keep both of them if they want to succeed. They are a nice complement to each other and the RBBC seems to be working nicely. Given the added beef up front and I think they will be looking good in their running game this year. Now if someone would come offer a #1, sure, he'd be gone, but noone will so it will end up being another offseason rumor that ends there. |

Here is what I can't help but think. If the consensus was that Marion Barber were better than Julius Jones, why are teams not contacting Dallas about him? I still say it would be foolish to trade Julius Jones because it would leave Dallas without a starting running back unless the deal is simply irresistible.

Maybe because: a) Dallas won't give Barber up without a huge deal..since they like him better. b) Some have same questions you do...why was he put ONLy in those situations. c) Jones is the only one they are shopping...not Barber. Or...all the above. I would argue with those that say Parcels wouldn't make him the all down starter as the issue....maybe he didn't have a choice? He has big money in Jones...and he has been injured before, and didn't know exactly what they have? I also commit to you all's memory...Parcels did nothing but complement and praise Barber...all year...and not Jones. Again, i am not a jones hater. I also think he is replaceable. However, I also agree with Miller....why not keep both...as that formula really works?

| who me? Admin | This is how rumors get started, LOL. The philly paper started this, giving out no sources, saying that someone approached Dallas about JJ, and was told that they would listen, "for the right price". From there, it broke it has been modified at other locations into "Dallas shopping Jones", which isn't happening, at least to anybody's knowledge. I also agree with Miller, and think the smart thing is to keep them both. To take it a step further, I think they need to get Julius Jones a contract extension before he hits the free agent market. Parcells may not have wanted to give Jones more carries, but I imagine the new staff will let him have it more. |

| 'Burghapologist | There's a fine line between denial and justification, and Mike walks it with the utmost expertise. You think a Philadelphia reporter just reached in his ass to pull out a fictional little brown nugget for the masses to exponentiate to create controversy for a division rival? It's to the point now that you're desperately grasping at speculation straws like the new staff letting him have more carries. It's way past time to admit that just because you don't think Jones is being shopped... doesn't mean he's not. And just because you think he's a fantastic fit in Dallas... doesn't mean he is. |

| who me? Admin | Having people come to you as ask you about a player, does not mean that a player is being shopped. This is the NFL, and everybody is up for trade, if the price is right. A GM would be foolish to close his ears to a deal, regardless what it is. And again, the original article does not say he is being shopped, it actually says he is "not being shopped". That said, I really don't know what the point is of trying to convince anyone otherwise. And again, the same stories came out, at the same time last year. *** My version of how the conversation probably went down. Other GM: Hi Jerry, I am interested in your running back Julius Jones, would you consider trading him? Jerry: Sure, for the right price I would be foolish to not at least give it some thought. Other GM: Well, what would you be looking for in return? Jerry: (takes a swig of Johnny Walker Black) Your first round pick this year, a 2nd next year, and a player to be named later. Other GM: YOUR OUTTA YOUR FREAKIN MIND! Jerry: Well, have a nice day. (takes another drink of Johnny Walker Black and grins) Other GM gets on the phone to his favorite media leak, quickly telling him that Jerry Jones is interested in trading Julius Jones if the right deal came along. ![]() |

| Who Me? Admin | While I'm not saying there is fire to this smoke or not, I will say that during the offseason in the NFL, 100's of these types of rumors start to fly and many have no basis at all other then an over zealous reporter trying to create a buzz and make a name for himself. |

| 'Burghapologist | Ok now for the real impartial lowdown... Other GM: Hi Jerry, I am interested in one of your 2 talented running backs, preferably the one who can score points, would you consider trading him? Jerry: Sure, for the right price I would be foolish to not at least give some thought... well, I could part with Jones although I think it's crazy neato how we're both referred to as "J-Jones", plus we look alot alike. Other GM: Well, ok I could settle for him I guess. We need someone to pair with (INSERT POWER BACK HERE), what would you be looking for in return? Jerry: (takes a healthy tug of White Zin, straight from the Franzia box) Well sir, I'm a REALIST so I don't think the same 2nd round pick we used on him would be too much to ask, and howsabout we throw you a 6th rounder also just to even things up a bit since your pick is so dang early? Other GM: Hmm.. Interesting. Let me run this past my owner and coaching staff and I'll holla back tomorrow. Are those muffled gerbil sounds I hear in the background? Jerry: Uhh.. why no suh! Uhh.. (makes mental note to tape rodents more securely before next felching session and grins) Other GM fields daily call from up and coming beat writer and casually mentions the exchange. Very original by the way.. you have a bright future in the creative writing biz. |

| who me? Admin | Owner Jerry Jones said the Cowboys are not actively seeking to trade running back Julius Jones. Jerry Jones declined to comment on whether other teams have called about Jones. But he did say the Cowboys haven't solicited trade offers for Jones, who is in the final year of his contract. Jones rushed for 1,084 yards last season. And barring anything unexpected, Jerry Jones said the fourth-year back will return with the Cowboys next season. "I don't see a trade happening," Jerry Jones said. "We have a team that is going to need some great play from that position. I like what we have done there. "More than likely, unless we have an opportunity to [draft a running back], we are going to go with the backs we ended the season with." Jones acknowledged that if someone offers a deal the Cowboys can't refuse, then anything is possible -- and not just with Julius Jones. But from the Cowboys' end, they are not interested in trading Jones. Star-Telegram.com: Fort Worth/Dallas News, Sports, Weather, Cowboys, Cars and Jobs |
