Warren Sapp - Big Year Ahead?

Warren Sapp was a bit of a shock entering the Raiders first mini camp this year, showing up 49 pounds lighter. That's not just losing weight, that is coughing up 1/3 of a human.

He is going into this season under 290 pounds, the last time he played at this weight was 1999 and 2000, when he totaled 29 sacks and was very dominating for the Bucs. He is going into his 13 season now, but given that he recorded 10 sacks last year, and being in better shape than he has been in since 2000, are we looking at another big year for Sapp?

The Raiders could use a big year from him. He has the talent, but does he still have the ability to do the job after 13 years in the league? Has he lost a few steps in speed? The loss of weight will help in that area, but I'm not sure he still has enough to be the "impact" player that he was 7 years ago.

There's no way he'll be the same impact player he was 7 years ago. That's obvious. He can still be a useful pass rusher though. If he's used on passign downs he will be a good piece of a defense. If he's counted on to play most of the snaps, especially on early downs he won't be as useful.

Anybody got the numbers on how much he played last year? I am curious as to how many plays he got, because his numbers were right up their with his stats from 1999 and 2000.
