Shula's actual quote was taken out of context

Here's what he said:
Quote:
"The Spygate thing has diminished what they've accomplished. You would hate to have that attached to your accomplishments. They've got it," Shula told the Daily News. "Belichick was fined $500,000, the team was fined $250,00 and they lost a first-round draft choice. That tells you the seriousness or significance of what they found.
"I guess you got the same thing as putting an asterisk by Barry Bonds' home run record. I guess it will be noted that the Patriots were fined and a No. 1 draft choice was taken away during that year of accomplishment. The sad thing is Tom Brady looks so good, it doesn't look like he needs any help."
-------------------------------

He didn't say they ought to put an asterick there. He said basically, sadly it already exists.

Wow. That's a HUGE change in attitude when you read the whole quote....

Shula is one of the many who found it disturbing that the whole situation was swept under the rug as fast as possible by having all the evidence being destroyed. He is not the type of guy to complain about things, or overreact to anything.

All he is saying is the same thing that most people already think.

And this situation has become very similar to the Barry Bonds situation in terms of fan reaction. Barry Bonds was taking a ton of criticism, but as he got closer to the home run record this year, then suddenly people began backing off. Why? because fans love to say they were around to see a historical event happen. Suddenly, the home run record was more of a story than the steroids. Fans and media both began to change their tune.

With the Patriots, fans and the media see a team they think will go undefeated. If this wasn't the case, I would bet money you would have seen a much larger outcry by fans over this whole situation.

asterick or not, it's hard to compare taking steriods that changes a persons size, strength and recovery time to video taping defensive signals.
Everyone can see what a huge advantage the player on steroids would have but the advantage to recording signals from the sidelines is miniscule to the point people continue to ask "why do it".
I can see the asterick for the past success, but it makes no sense to mark any future success. (if anything the asterick for future success should read "despite not having thier own 1st rd draft pick in 2008".)

I'm now looking forward to the next Pats game vs. the Dolphins. Thanks Coach Shula.

There again, you don't know what all was found. Goodell had it destroyed before anybody could see it.

Then again, you wouldn't have to take illegal steroids and get bigger and stronger, and face possible drug testing and getting caught, if you simply cheat to find out where everyone is gonna be.

Cripple = MIA
Does Dan Marino own the record for most TD's in a single game?
If so, I think we might see Brady brake it in this game. Might as well take that record from MIA as well.
and after they're up like 42-0 in the 4th qtr, fake a field goal and have the holder throw for another one.
