Travis Henry Wins Appeal

TRAVIS HENRY WINS APPEAL by Michael David Smith

Broncos running back Travis Henry has won his appeal of a positive drug test, meaning he will not receive a one-year suspension under the NFL's substance-abuse policy, the team said on its web site.

“We are pleased with this outcome and happy that Travis has been absolved of any wrongdoing with respect to this matter," said the Broncos in a prepared statement. “The Broncos look forward to Travis Henry’s continued participation on the playing field.”

Broncos coach Mike Shanahan has said he believed Henry’s positive drug test was an error, and that Henry passed hair and lie-detector tests.

“If I thought the tests were positive, Travis would not be on our football team right now,” Shanahan said last month, according to the team's web site. “When he went back and took the hair sample — that’s negative — and the lie detector test — that’s negative — we’ll let due process take care of itself. But if Travis took a test and we knew it was positive, after what he promised me, he wouldn’t be with our football team. I didn’t share that with you because I couldn’t share it with you, obviously."

The NFL has not released any details about its reason for siding with Henry on his appeal, but this will no doubt give hope to every play who fails a drug test.

Moving this over from Escrow's post in the news forum. This one deserves it's own topic as it appears Henry could gain some momentum during the fantasy playoffs as he is getting healthy and he is putting this behind him.

All I can say is he had better not EVER mess up again, for any reason, for the rest of his career. He just won a battle with Roger Goodell, and I have a feeling that he will hold a grudge and really lay the hammer down hard if Henry ever does anything else wrong.

Now to see if he can stay healthy for the remainder of the season.

Wow, didn't see this coming. If he is able to remain on the Donk's offense next year.....:shudder:. The ONLY hesitation for me is if he's becoming a health risk. Other than that, The Rat has faith in him and looks like he's keeping him around. That being said he has the chance to do big things next season.

To Mike's point....

It has been released by the NFL that Travis Henry is still enrolled in the drug testing program. Keep in mind he was due to be withdrawn...but won't be now. So next mistake is a 1yr suspension.

Not so much concerned about just the drug program. Goodell will be looking for this guy to simply sneeze wrong.

Hell, he has already fined Mike Shanahan for speaking out in support of Henry
ESPN - Shanahan fined for comments about substance abuse program - NFL
