I have no problem moving along since Patriots didn't win the SB.

Dude, no offense, but grow a pair. This is an adult forum, which includes the occasional use of adult language. Hell, "asshole" wasn't even directed at anybody here, it was directed at a person who is so obsessed with winning that he'd cheat in a game to gain a minor advantage. In my world, such people qualify as assholes.

If you don't like that, that's okay, nobody says you have to read my posts.

Actually, I'd be happy if the Bills and Jets got all the Patsies' picks, just so long as the Patriots suffer. And here's an FYI, I hated the Patriots even back when the Fins (and every other team in the East) were making them look like punks. That's part of being a fan of a team in the East, you have to deal with the unrelenting and all-consuming hatred the fans of other teams in the division have for yours. Hell, I still don't like the Colts even though they haven't been in the East in forever and a half.

group A: liked the Patriots because they were the "underdog" who won with teamwork and dedication rather than teams that were expected to win with overpaid "hired guns".

group B: disliked the Patriots because there team is a rival or their favorite team lost a big game to them.
and hold on a second. i resent the implication that i would hate a team just because the eagles lost the SB to them. I don't hate Tampa (who won in the Birds' first NFC champ game), or Carolina (who won in the second), or the Saints (who won last year in the Divisional round)...

so i still count as a group A (don't like arrogant jerks) member, and a group C (don't like cheaters) member.

is that ok GP?

Panther fans... do they even have fans?
AFC East... all teams that lose to the Pats twice each year should hate reguardless of cameras.
I'm sure that I'm missing a few. I'll need to read a few more posts to determine some of you. Carry on.
You know...I am really, really getting tired of your labeling of us, and your sour grapes.

lets walk through this so even a kindergardener like you can follow.

I am NOT a Patriots hater. Nor was I ever.

But, to be clear I am dancing the true dance of joy that the Patsies blew it in the superbowl and were beaten within an inch of their lives. In fact....I even copied the Merriman sack dance everytime Brady ate turf!

Why? Not because my Eagles lost in the superbowl. Not because the Patriots are or WERE very close to becoming the next NFL dynasty up there with Pittsburgh, Dallas, San Francisco heck...even old Greenbay. No, my hatred is only directed at one person. Bellicheat.

I can take stretching the rules...as everyone tries to steal signals, and fiind loop holes.

But...here is where the difference lies.

First - there was a league wide mandate to stop exactly what NE was doing. It was made BECAUSE of what NE was doing. That simple. BB thought himself above the law anyway...and kept doing it. He was caught and punished. Regardless of most here...I think the loss of a first round pick is huge. It potentially hurts NE for years to come..as they are excellent in picking talent...and lost a great resource for the future.

Second - The concern NOW of how much WAS done. Did it give NE an edge..was it a major factor in some of their wins or superbowl titles. Like it or not, as RC has pointed out the NE wins will always have a tainted look to them now until all the evidence is shown.

Three - ah...but there is the next rub. There is no evidence to show what the really reallies are. It was all destroyed by Goodell. Why?

So, in net...you can blame sour fans, you can whine about the unfairness...you can continue to stick your head in your own sandbox.

The reality is......BB is a cheater. We will never really know the significance of it. So he and his team will always live under a cloud of doubt due to it.

So get warm and fuzzy with it Glenn and Charity. Cause in the court of public opinion.....it doesn't matter what you can prove...it matters what the world thinks of you.

Great post Phicinfan.
I can respect what you are saying and it all make perfect sense. (unlike some of the other blabber that I'm forced to respond to)
The only thing I will choose to disagree with is the fact this is my "sour grapes".
My posts would be no different had the Pats won the SuperBowl.
I shall respectfully remove my Group A/B listings. (I was just having fun)

But you do have to agree that if the Patriots had never won anything, and still stunk, this story and the amount of negative response directed toward them would be much less.

I don't agree with this at all. It has nothing to do with anything. All of the additional scrutiny has been brought on by having a Jackass for a Coach. Cheating is cheating! Man-up Bill! He buried himself and his franchise.

This is what I mean about "hating". Comments like this just don't make any sense.

Are you saying that if they video taped signals and were a very bad team, never won a division, never made the playoffs.... this story would be the same? Who would care if they cheated and never won?
Lets say they caught, I don't know, the coach of the Dolphins... or the Cardinals video taping D signals. You think many people would care this much? Sure it would be news, but not nearly as hot as the 3 time SuperBowl winning Patriots cheating. It's just common sense.

You just don't get it. This has nothing to with their success. This is about cheating. Then acting the way BB did after it came out. It doesn't matter if this were the (name your franchise). He cheated, got caught, and acted like an arrogant prick! Pretty simple really! He has now stained an entire franchise. it just so happened that this franchise has done well while he cheated there! He is finished in my opinion, or should be.

So if the Cardinals video taped signals, it would get the same attention as the Patriots are getting? How can you say that? You're not even being rational!

I am sorry, but I have to disagree to a point. Yes, if the NE pats were awful, this would probably be a non-issue, as while they did cheat...it meant nothing in record. I think the point you are missing is not that they are successful is what brings this intensive look, but the speculation of this is WHY they were so successful...or at least a factor of it.

As expected, I am hearing more and more media dorks starting to turn on Belichick, and wanting him to step up and tell his side of the story of what actually happened and all the why's and How's of this whole spygate thing taking place. He was actually going to do this back before the season started, then once Goodell waved his magic wand and made all the evidence disappear, Belichick suddenly had nothing to say about it.

When the Patriots started winning, and winning, and winning, the media no longer cared. They were too busy sucking up and praising "greatness".

Funny how all it takes is one big loss for the fickle media to start doing a 180 on their thoughts.
