Pre Camp Discussion: New York Jets

Another team we havent talked too much about is the New York Jets.

The Jets went on quite the spending spree in free agency, signing RB Jesse Chatman, G Alan Faneca, TE Bubba Franks, LB Calvin Pace, FB Tony Richardson, OL Damien Woody and CB Andre Woolfolk.

Signings that toughen up the offensive side of the football and would indicate a possible return to power football.

Then the Jets grab monster freak Vernon Gholston in the draft to add to the defense. All in all things look rosey in New York until you factor in the Giants won the Super Bowl and Kellen Clemens and Chad Pennington are still the QBs.

Pennington will have a much better season this year, and the Jets as a whole will have a nice season. Pennington finally has the tight end he needed. We all know he doesn't have a strong arm, but a strong arm isn't necessary to be successful. The biggest problem with the Jets is they were better than expected a couple years ago, then came down to earth and people needed someone to blame. So most blamed Pennington, and Mangini blamed Belichick

Im still not impressed with either QB. New England is set at QB, Buffalo has a good one, Miami might have found the answer in Chad Henne...and the J-E-T-S still have the same old same old....

You can win a Superbowl with Pennington. You just need to build the offense around his abilities if he is going to be your future, and it seems as though Mangini is working toward that. A big passing void was filled when they drafted Keller, and Gholston will go a long way toward making that front 7 much better.

Keller is a talented player for sure. If he translates well into the NFL game, he could be pretty good. Going to cut into Cotchery's production a bit though...
