| Outlaw | What will CB's excuse be to get out of this one?? Are there any witnesses to claim that officer's abused their mace/taser priveleges on him? Perhaps it will be a case of racial profiling. Ohh no no wait I've got it. The arresting officer touched him in appropriately by pinching his "coin purse" while complaining about Cedric's YPC last year. I'm sure there is a story in the AP similar to this very soon to follow. |

| A.D.I.D.A.S Premium Member Forum Leader | Bears | Disappointed in Benson Sat, 7 Jun 2008 10:40:31 -0700 Updating previous reports, the Chicago Tribune reports Chicago Bears general manager Jerry Angelo said the team is going to take RB Cedric Benson's latest arrest seriously. "Disappointment is too often-used word when talking about Cedric," Angelo said. "The No. 1 lesson of every player is protect your job." Angelo said the team will open their own investigation on the incident. The team plans to hear all sides before doing anything. He noted the team is "extremely disappointed and frustrated" with the situation. Angelo also added the team is going to have a difficult time relying on Benson. Not looking good for dumbass.... |

Art Acevedo has the Austin Police Department on such a tight leash and under such intense pressure, they arent making this kind of arrest unless theyve got him nailed. I can't wait to see what Matt Forte will do in the season opener.

![]() I had after draft: 1) McFadden 2) K. Smith 3) J. Stewart 4) M. Forte 5) Mendenhall 6) C.Johnson 7) R.Rice Yes, right now I would bump Forte over Stewart, as I am not convinced Stewart is a starter this year, as I have posted in the other threads. I still like Smith's value more though...due to the better QB and passing game situation.

| Who Me? Admin | B/c they have no one if they drop Benson. You may slob all over Forte, but the bottom line is he's not an elite prospect and he's not someone I would want to just hand a job to. They would need to bring in a vet to compete with him IMO. Forte/Peterson.....god make me puke....seriously, that would likely be the worse RB combo in the league. So you ask, I'll tell ya. They must do something, b/c take out Benson and their RB prospects are down right scary as hell over a full season. Now there are other options other then Alexander, but Alexander woudl be my pick of the lot to be honest. |

| who me? Admin | I really don't understand the huge push for Forte, regardless what happens to Benson. Forte is not a better talent than what the Bears have on their roster. If Benson goes down, just because that is one less person on the depth chart doesn't mean Forte suddenly becomes a great talent at running back. It simply means he gets a few more carries, IF the Bears don't bring in a free agent. |

| who me? Admin | Not sure what Julius Jones has to do with this, but all of these Julius Jones jabs are very likely to come back and haunt you this season. As for Forte, I just didn't see much, if any, hype about this guy before the draft, yet when he lands in Chicago, a team with a horrid offense, there is suddenly a lot of expectations for this guy. It wouldn't matter if Thomas Jones was still on this roster, when opposing defenses are standing around laughing at your quarterback, the running game doesn't have a chance. |

| Genibus Nitito Canus Premium Member Forum Leader | It has to do with you downing guys for being over hyped or over rated when you've sung the praises of a bust for years. Matt Forte is an excellent physical specimen. He excelled running in college on a HORRIBLE team, when the opponent could basically load up 8 or 9 guys. He has a superior attitude to Cedric Benson. I dont think anyone has said Matt Forte will run for 1600 yards and 15 TDs this season, but the kid will be an impact player on that football team and he damn sure deserves a fantasy look and a shot at the starting RB spot in Chicago. Had Matt Forte been running for Texas, Arkansas, or just about any other BCS team, you'd be singing his praises. For years you've told anyone that would listen every summer that "this is the year Julius Jones breaks out" and "Believe in Julius Jones" and you've wasted 2nd and 3rd round picks on the guy. A guy who failed under two different head coaches. Two different systems.

What I have been seeing in regards to Forte is several discussions pushing the idea that Forte will take over in Chicago and will do a great job. Forte might be a decent starter on other teams, but I don't think he will be good in Chicago. I don't think any running back will be good in Chicago, given the complete lack of respect for the quarterback situation.

Your also still assuming we all think hes going to run wild. I think he will do a good job. In that situation, a good job might be 900 yards and 8 TDs, but depending on whats left, 900 yards and 8 TDs is worth a 6th round pick to me.

| who me? Admin | Still not sure what is giving you this idea. I could care less if Forte ran for a BCS school or not. I consider Chris Johnson is the 2nd best running back in this draft. |
