Bucs RB Earnest Graham Gets Extension/Named Starter As Camp Opens.

The Tampa Buccaneers reached agreement Sunday with running back Earnest Graham on a four-year, $11 million contract extension, reports NFL Network's Adam Schefter.
The agreement would eliminate a potential training camp holdout by Graham, who skipped volunatary OTAs but did attend mandatory team minicamp in mid-June.

Bucs, Graham reach agreement on three-year, $10.5 million extension

Dead money is a poker term. It refers to players in a tournament who have no chance to win.

I think Graham is very similar to Ryan Grant. He's this guy who came out of nowhere last year to become a fantasy hero for whichever teams found him on the waiver wire. Now coming into this year defenses really know who these 2 guys are.
The only difference is that Grant's situation has the QB changed while Graham's is the same as last year. I see that offense flowing through Graham whenever he is in the game. Even with decent competition at RB I still believe Graham will pile up a ton of yards. He should be a PPR beast too. I actually really like this guy.

This is a pretty good analogy. But I think the Buc's situation is more complex than Greenbay's. Buc's have Caddy who will be pupped for at least 6 weeks. Signed Dunn from ATL and also have Michael Bennett for 3rd down and receptions. I don't have nearly as high an expectation for Graham, as I do for Grant. Who really doesn't have any competition.

This isnt alot of money for someone who I agree will be just fine. If this was AP money I would be concerned. This was a pretty good business deal with potential for a solid RB.

He was good last year but with Dunn, Pittman and later Caddy how much playing time will he get. No one truly knows whats going to take place right now.

yep.

Things to keep in mind here. First he got no guaranteed money. No real signing bonus at all. So they can cut him at anytime with no real hurt. Second, there are rumors flying that they are hot after Kevin Jones. Plus they went and got Dunn.

I think they aren't locked on Graham, and they aren't real sure of Caddy either.

Thats true the word is they are the front runners on Jones. Even at the end of last year when Graham had seemed to prove himself the Bucs were looking other directions. There is something that the Bucs do not like about this kid but they havnt come out and said it.

I believe this guy is really going to make or break a lot of teams this year as will Ryan Grant. I believe Jackson will get some major playing time if healthy and is definately a late round pick for me.

According to Kevin Jones agent Kevin has expressed a desire to play for the Bucs. His agent also said that all the rumors that Jones was headed to Tampa this week are false. Kevin Jones has expressed a desire to play for the Bucs as has WR Eddie Kenninson. But the Bucs have made no overtures as yet to either one.

Player Watch: RB Earnest Graham

The Tampa Tribune reports that Caddy with likely not play at all this year. The Bucs put out positive reports about Cadillac's recovery in June, but that was all part of gaining leverage in contract talks with Earnest Graham. It paid off, as Graham agreed to a well below-market deal. The Trib anticipates Williams going on PUP, then being moved to I.R. for the rest of the year. This is what was going on in the background here in Florida and missed by some experts who didn't look at the entire picture. Much was made about the small size of Grahams contract at the time. Saying it showed lack of faith in Graham because it was only for around 2.5 Million.

Yet let me put this thought out

Earnest Graham was a undrafted walkon who made the team. This for him was a $2 million dollar a year raise. It was also very cap friendly for the Bucs. The contract also will keep Earnest Graham well motivated as there is still plenty of room to make Millions more if he performs well. It would not surprise me in the least to see some very nice production out of Graham again this year.
