I think the dislike for Chad Johnson is affecting the projections by some, not all though.

I voted for CJ, but count me as a TJ fan. I am convinced that TJ could be a #1, and a successful #1 without Chad on this team. He isn't a highlight reel #1, but he is a dependable guy that can provide steady production regardless who is lining up beside him. And this is what irritates me so much in regards to the Bengals. They have the potential to destroy people with this offense if they could just get a respectable defense, and clean their overall act up.
Kinda what I meant. I think many are simply picking against CJ, not b/c what he can or can't do on the field but b/c they are sick and tired of hearing about him all off season. This is actually music to my ears. If this cat keep falling into the 3rd, he's one of the best values in the draft.

One question for you. I don't care what point it is in the draft. There will be a point when YOU'd have to chose. Which one is it? The safe pick in TJ, or the CJ grab?

i made my pick clear, it's CJ and it's easy for me. Here is another thing I don't get. Why is TJ, who has performed at this level for one year, safer then CJ who has done it for 5 at this level?? Just b/c Chad's a headcase? This isn't new. He was unhappy last year and all he did was have a career high in receiving yds. I have more faith in Chad duplicating or eclipsing his 07 numbers then I do TJ. And since they were basically identical from a fantasy standpoint (10 pts diff) I say Chad is still the man here.

Do you seriously think that Palmer will be looking toward the jackass or the worker? Last year was caused by the jackass becoming the jackass. He and TJ are now in tune, and CJ can play with them if he stays in line.

You do realize that TJ was a no show for voluntary workouts as well right? You also realize that CJ's work ethic is noted by everyone on the team as one of the best they have ever seen right?? You may not liek Chad, actually he pissed me off plenty this offsesone, but in the end it's all about numbers and Chad will put them up. Do you really think for a second during the game with a 300 lb lineman chacing his ass down Carson is going to stop and think hmmmm you know Chad is an ass, I don't care if he's open, where is that nice guy TJ??? Come on RC, your smarter then that! You know damn well it doesn't matter what kind of guy you are. Get the job done, and get open. he'll get plenty of looks. There is a reason there is no other WR in the game that has more first down receptions in the past 3 years then Chad. I don't worry about Carson and Chad at all.

I wonder if Donovan McNabb's psychiatrist is Carson's Fav Five? If not, I suspect he will be.

These 2 complement each other very well. CJ would end up on my roster before TJ. CJ has won we a couple of ffl championships, when this guy blows up look out. Monster numbers. He did disappoint when I saw him play in person, anyone remember when he sent the Browns secondary pepto?

You made my point!!! TJ got the job done and got open 115 times or so last year! I will take TJ, you can take whoever you want Miller. I was asked who I'd take, I believe, in this Close Call. I am smart enough to realize that. (Come on RC, your smarter then that!) I can't see in any of my posts anything other then my opinion on the Close Call you asked for. That's what they're for ............right?

And in those 112 receptions that TJ was "open", he still only managed to amass nearly 300 yards LESS then CJ!! And that was a statistical jump for TJ, it was simply the norm for CJ. Where is the room for gorwth for TJ??

And your point has been that Palmer suddenly is going to stop throwing CJ the ball?? HUH?? WHY?? Like I pointed out, your really trying to tell me that in the heat of Battle Palmer is going to make the descision to throw it to the "nice" guy over the "ass"?? You also state that:
Quote:
He and TJ are now in tune
And Chad and him are not? Or wait, maybe it was the voluntary workouts that Chad missed this offseason that gives TJ the advantage since he was there with Palmer.....oh wait, that's right TJ was in LA, not in Cincy with Palmer. So a career high in yards is not being "in tune" with your QB??

I'm simply not buying this bs argument that Palmer is now going to be looking towards TJ more and Chad is going to be lost in the shuffle. Follow the talent, and CJ is still more talented. Chad makes more big plays and will get many more yds, similar receptions and close in the TD's. There is upside with CJ, there just isn't with TJ. Both are safe options and you can make the case that CJ is actually a "safer" pick then TJ due to his track record of consistent numbers over 5 years compared to 1 from TJ.

I was asked who I'd take
Yes you were, and you can take TJ all you want. But the rational your using for it seems to be made out of personal emotion rather then looking at the big picture here. And since I disagree with it, It's always fun to lock horns with good ol'RC

To be honest, I'm not surprised, if you did this a month ago, it woudl have been 90% to 10% for TJ. It's now getting closer and CJ is gaining trust back in the fantasy community. My feeling is as the season draws near and everyone is actually made to make the selection, they will be selecting CJ, not TJ as they claim here. I hope they don't and they continue to take TJ, but I doubt that will be the case.

Another interesting fact here in the voting is that among the registered members here, the vote is actually tied, 10-10. It is the lurkers that are going towards TJ.

Someone isn't hearing the full story.

There have been as many instances with TJ whining on the sideline to Palmer he is open all the time, as Chad does it publically. So it isn't like TJ has been a saint. I will also call out that TJ is in a contract year...which will only push him harder to do better and get the big $$$$. So I won't be surprised at all to see more of the complaining and whinign from him. I still think both are solid. But in non PPR, I have to go with Chad.

Bares consideration as to how it might affect things:
  • -- Bengals Chances of Extending T.J. Only 30%? --
    Fri Jul 11, 2008 --from FFMastermind.com
  • ESPN's James Walker reports coming off a career year that included an NFL-leading 112 receptions, you'd think the Cincinnati Bengals would be rushing to the phone to signed WR T.J. Houshmandzadeh to an extension. But the notoriously tight-pocketed Bengals are content to let their star receiver play out the final year of his deal. Houshmandzadeh likely priced himself out of Cincinnati with last year's phenomenal season. A telling sign was the Bengals selecting two receivers in the first three rounds of April's NFL draft. Chances of Houshmandzadeh playing for Cincinnati in 2009: 30 percent.

Housh. Steady production each week does it for me.

Lets say right now I told you that you could use your 2nd round pick on either CJ or Housh. Would you honestly tell me that you would take CJ?
